Only a few people remained in the sanctuary. The famine was so intense that the others had scattered to their own homes.
And there remained in the holy places but a few, for the famine had prevailed over them: and they were dispersed every man to his own place.
The shortage of food had been so severe that many people had scattered to their homes, and only a few men were left in the Temple.
Few men remained in the sanctuary because the famine was too much for them; the rest scattered, each to his own home.
