Afterwards, David was sorry that he had even done that,
And it came to pass afterwards that David's heart smote him, because he had cut off Saul's skirt.
And the servants of David said to him: Behold the day, of which the Lord said to thee: I will deliver thy enemy unto thee, that thou mayest do to him as it shall seem good in thy eyes. Then David arose, and secretly cut off the hem of Saul's robe.
Later, David felt bad about what he did.
After that, David thought that he had done something wrong. He felt sorry that he had cut a piece of cloth from Saul's coat.
Afterward, David had a guilty conscience, because he had cut off the edge of Saul’s robe.
And afterward David's heart struck him, because he had cut off a corner of Saul's robe.

And the men of David said unto him, See, the day is come, whereof the Lord said unto thee, Behold, I will deliver thine enemy into thine hand, and thou shalt do to him as it shall seem good to thee. Then David arose and cut off the lap of Saul’s garment privily.
But afterward, David’s conscience bothered him because he had cut off the border of Saul’s robe.

He’s God’s anointed!” David held his men in check with these words and wouldn’t let them pounce on Saul. Saul got up, left the cave, and went on down the road.
Afterward David’s heart troubled him because he had cut off a corner of Saul’s robe.

David’s servants said to him, “This is the day about which the Lord said to you: I will deliver your enemy into your hand; do with him as you see fit.” So David moved up and stealthily cut off an end of Saul’s robe.

David’s men said to him, “This is the day that the Lord spoke of when he said, ‘I will deliver your enemy into your hands, you may do to him as you see fit.’ ” David got up and secretly cut off a corner of Saul’s robe.

And it cometh to pass afterwards that the heart of David smiteth him, because that he hath cut off the skirt which [is] on Saul,
