2 Corinthians 12:16
Print
But be it so, I did not burden you. Nevertheless, being crafty, I caught you with guile.
But be it so, I did not myself burden you; but, being crafty, I caught you with guile.
But be that as it may, I did not burden you [with my support]. But [some say that] I was sly and took you by trickery.
But though granting that I did not burden you [with my support, some say that] I was crafty [and that] I cheated and got the better of you with my trickery.
But be it so, I did not burden you: nevertheless, being crafty, I caught you with guile.
Now granted, I did not burden you; yet sly as I am, I took you in by deceit!
We all know that I didn’t place a burden on you, but in spite of that you think I’m a con artist who fooled you with a trick.
Let it be granted, then, that I was not a burden to you; but, crafty fellow that I am, I took you with trickery!
You agree that I wasn't a burden to you. Maybe that's because I was trying to catch you off guard and trick you.
But be it so. *I* did not burden you, but being crafty I took you by guile.
But let it be— I did not weigh you down, but being crafty, I took you by deceit!
But be it so: I did not burthen you: but being crafty, I caught you by guile.
It is clear that I was not a burden to you, but you think that I was tricky and used lies to catch you.
I did not give you trouble. You surely know that. But some of you say that I deceived you. You think that I was clever and I got money from you.
But be that as it may, I did not burden you. Oh, but I was just being crafty and using deceit to exploit you, wasn’t I!
But granting that I myself did not burden you, I was crafty, you say, and got the better of you by deceit.
But granting that I myself did not burden you, I was crafty, you say, and got the better of you by deceit.
·It is clear [Granting that; or Be that as it may] I was not a burden to you, but ·you think I was tricky and lied to catch you [L being so crafty, I took you by deceit!; C Paul is being sarcastic].
But be it that I charged you not: yet for as much as I was crafty, I took you with guile.
You agree, then, that I haven’t been a burden to you. Was I a clever person who trapped you by some trick?
You will agree, then, that I was not a burden to you. But someone will say that I was tricky, and trapped you with lies.
Now granted, I have not burdened you; yet sly as I am, I took you in by deceit!
It is clear that I was not a burden to you. But you think that I was tricky and used lies to catch you.
Granting that I have not been a burden to you, was I a clever schemer who trapped you by some trick?
“All right then,” I hear you say, “we agree that he himself had none of our money.” But are you thinking that I nevertheless was rogue enough to catch you by some trick? Just think. Did I make any profit out of the messengers I sent you? I asked Titus to go, and sent a brother with him. You don’t think Titus made anything out of you, do you? Yet didn’t I act in the same spirit as he, and take the same line as he did?
But be it so, I did not burden you; nevertheless, being crafty, I caught you with guile.
But be it so, I did not burden you: nevertheless, being crafty, I caught you with guile.
But be it so, I did not burden you: nevertheless, being crafty, I caught you with guile.
But be that as it may, I did not burden you myself. Nevertheless, crafty fellow that I am, I took you in by deceit.
But let it be. I have not been a burden to you, but because I was crafty, I took you by cunning.
Some of you are saying, “It’s true that his visits didn’t seem to cost us anything, but he is a sneaky fellow, that Paul, and he fooled us. As sure as anything he must have made money from us some way.”
And why is it that I keep coming across these whiffs of gossip about how my self-support was a front behind which I worked an elaborate scam? Where’s the evidence? Did I cheat or trick you through anyone I sent? I asked Titus to visit, and sent some brothers along. Did they swindle you out of anything? And haven’t we always been just as aboveboard, just as honest?
But be that as it may. I did not burden you. Nevertheless, being crafty, I caught you with deceit.
But be that as it may, I did not burden you; yet being crafty, I took you in by deceit!
You agree, then, that I haven’t been a burden to you. Was I a clever person who trapped you by some trick?
But granted that I myself did not burden you, yet I was crafty and got the better of you by deceit.
But be that as it may, I did not burden you myself; nevertheless, devious person that I am, I took you in by deceit.
But be that as it may, I did not burden you myself; nevertheless, crafty fellow that I am, I took you in by deceit.
In any case, let it be assumed that I myself did not prove to be a burden to you. However, you may say that I was crafty and took you in by a trick.
It is clear I was not a burden to you, but you think I was tricky and lied to catch you.
But be that as it may, I have not burdened you. Yet because I was a crafty person, I took you in by deceit!
In any case, I haven’t caused you any expense. But I’m so tricky! I have caught you by tricking you! Or so you think!
Be that as it may, I have not been a burden to you. Yet, crafty fellow that I am, I caught you by trickery!
Be that as it may, I have not been a burden to you. Yet, crafty fellow that I am, I caught you by trickery!
But be that as it may, I did not burden you. Nevertheless, being crafty, I caught you by cunning!
It is true that I was not a heavy load to you. But some say I set a trap for you.
Some of you admit I was not a burden to you. But others still think I was sneaky and took advantage of you by trickery.
But granted that I did not impose upon you, nevertheless I was crafty and took you with guile –
Let it be assumed that I did not burden you. Nevertheless (you say) since I was crafty, I took you in by deceit.
Let it be assumed that I did not burden you. Nevertheless (you say) since I was crafty, I took you in by deceit.
Let it be assumed that I did not burden you. Nevertheless (you say) since I was crafty, I took you in by deceit.
Be that as it may, I did not burden you. But, crafty person that I am, did I take you in by deceit?
Grant me this, that I didn’t lay any burden on you. But—maybe I was a trickster, and I took you by deceit!
But let the matter of my being a burden on you be as it may, some say, "Crafty jack that I am, I took you by ormah (cunning)" [BERESHIS 3:1]
But let it be that I do not burden you. Yet for as much as I was crafty, I took you with guile.
But granting that I myself did not burden you, I was crafty, you say, and got the better of you by guile.
But granting that I myself did not burden you, I was crafty, you say, and got the better of you by guile.
But be that as it may, I did not burden you myself. Nevertheless, crafty fellow that I am, I caught you with trickery!
Because even though you didn’t have to lift a finger for me, lies abound that I deceived you by some clever act.
Even so, I myself didn’t burden you. “But, being crafty, I caught you with deception.”
Did I send anyone to you to get something for myself? No!
But be it; I grieved not you, but when I was subtle, I took you with guile.
And be it [so], I -- I did not burden you, but being crafty, with guile I did take you;
