And it came to pass, while they were on the way, that tidings came to David, saying, “Absalom hath slain all the king’s sons, and there is not one of them left.”

Now it happened while they were on the way [back home], that the [exaggerated] report came to David, “Absalom has killed all the king’s sons, and not one of them is left.”
While they were on the way, the word came to David, Absalom has killed all the king’s sons, and not one of them is left.
¶ And it came to pass, while they were in the way, that tidings came to David, saying, Absalom hath slain all the king’s sons, and there is not one of them left.
While they were on the way, a report reached David: “Absalom struck down all the king’s sons; not even one of them survived!”
While they were on the way, the report came to David: “Absalom has killed all of the princes! Not one remains.”

And while they were yet in the way, a rumour came to David, saying: Absalom hath slain all the king's sons, and there is not one of them left.
The king’s sons were still on their way into town. But King David got a message about what happened. But the message was, “Absalom has killed all the king’s sons! Not one of the sons was left alive.”
While they were still on the way home, David heard news about what had happened. Someone told him, ‘Absalom has attacked all the king's sons. Not one son is still alive.’
While they were on the way, news reached David: “Absalom has killed all the king’s sons. There is not one of them left.”
While they were on the way, news came to David, “Absalom has struck down all the king's sons, and not one of them is left.”

While the king’s sons were on their way [C back to Jerusalem], the news came to David, “Absalom has ·killed [L struck down] all of the king’s sons! Not one of them is left alive!”
¶ And while they were in the way, tidings came to David, saying, Absalom hath slain all the King’s sons, and there is not one of them left.
While they were on their way, David heard this rumor: “Absalom has killed all the king’s sons, and not a single one is left.”
While they were on their way home, David was told: “Absalom has killed all your sons—not one of them is left!”
While they were on the way, a report reached David: “Absalom struck down all the king’s sons; not even one of them survived!”

So they murdered Amnon. Then the other sons of the king jumped on their mules and fled. As they were on the way back to Jerusalem, the report reached David: “Absalom has killed all of your sons, and not one is left alive!”
Absalom’s servants did to Amnon exactly what their master ordered. All the king’s sons got out as fast as they could, jumped on their mules, and rode off. While they were still on the road, a rumor came to the king: “Absalom just killed all the king’s sons—not one is left!” The king stood up, ripped his clothes to shreds, and threw himself on the floor. All his servants who were standing around at the time did the same.
While they were on the way, the report reached David: “Absalom struck down all of the sons of the king, and there is not one of them remaining.”
