Therefore now, let your hands be strengthened and be ye valiant; for your master Saul is dead, and also the house of Judah has anointed me king over them.”

Saul is dead, but the tribe of Judah has made me their king. So be strong and have courage.

Let your hands be strengthened, and be ye men of valour: for although your master Saul be dead, yet the house of Juda hath anointed me to be their king.
Now be strong and brave. Your lord, Saul, is dead, but the tribe of Judah has anointed me to be their king.”
Saul, your master, is dead, so you must continue to be strong and brave. The people of Judah have now chosen me to rule them as king.’
Now let your hands be strong and courageous, for your master Saul is dead, and the house of Judah has anointed me to be king over them.”

The citizens of Judah came to Hebron, and then and there made David king over the clans of Judah. A report was brought to David that the men of Jabesh Gilead had given Saul a decent burial. David sent messengers to the men of Jabesh Gilead: “God bless you for this—for honoring your master, Saul, with a funeral. God honor you and be true to you—and I’ll do the same, matching your generous act of goodness. Strengthen your resolve and do what must be done. Your master, Saul, is dead. The citizens of Judah have made me their king.” * * *
Now may your hands be strong and may you be courageous, since your lord Saul is dead and the house of Judah has anointed me as king over them.”

So take courage and prove yourselves valiant, for though your lord Saul is dead, the house of Judah has anointed me king over them.”
