And as he journeyed he came near Damascus, and suddenly there shone round about him a light from heaven.

As he traveled he approached Damascus, and suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him [displaying the glory and majesty of Christ];

As he traveled and was nearing Damascus, a light from heaven suddenly flashed around him.

And during the proceeding, it came about that he was drawing-near to Damascus. And suddenly a light from heaven flashed-around him.

So Saul went to Damascus. When he came near the city, a very bright light from heaven suddenly shined around him.
He travelled towards Damascus. He was very near the city when a bright light suddenly appeared. The light came from the sky, and it shone all around him.
As he went on his way and was approaching Damascus, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him.

So Saul headed toward Damascus. As he came near the city, a bright light from heaven suddenly flashed around him [C in the OT lightning sometimes signaled the appearance of God; Ex. 19:16].

And as he proceeded, he came near Damascus; and suddenly there shone round about him a light from heaven;

And as he was traveling, it happened that when he was approaching Damascus, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him;

As he was nearing Damascus on this mission, suddenly a brilliant light from heaven spotted down upon him!
He set off. When he got to the outskirts of Damascus, he was suddenly dazed by a blinding flash of light. As he fell to the ground, he heard a voice: “Saul, Saul, why are you out to get me?”
As he went he drew near Damascus, and suddenly a light from heaven shone around him.
