Ye that put far away the evil day, and cause the seat of violence to come near,
—ye that put far away the evil day, and cause the seat of violence to come near;
Do you put off the day of punishment, Yet cause the seat of violence to come near?
O you who put far away the evil day [of punishment], yet cause the sitting of violence [upon you] to come near?
Ye that put far away the evil day, and cause the seat of violence to come near;
You dismiss any thought of the evil day and bring in a reign of violence.
Doom to those who ignore the evil day and make violent rule draw near:
You put off all thought of the evil day but hasten the reign of violence.
You are cruel, and you forget the coming day of judgment.
Ye that put far away the evil day, and cause the seat of violence to come near;
You that are separated unto the evil day: and that approach to the throne of iniquity;
You people are rushing toward the day of punishment. You bring near the rule of violence.
You refuse to think that trouble might come to you. But the cruel things that you do are causing trouble to come very soon.
You who are trying to put off the evil day, you bring near the session for violence!
O you who put far away the day of disaster and bring near the seat of violence?
O you who put far away the day of disaster and bring near the seat of violence?
You put off the ·day of punishment [day of disaster/doom; L evil day], but you ·bring near [establish] ·the day when you can do evil to others [a reign of terror; L the seat of violence].
Ye that put far away the evil day, and approach to the seat of iniquity?
How horrible it will be for those who think that a day of disaster is far away. They bring the reign of violence closer.
You refuse to admit that a day of disaster is coming, but what you do only brings that day closer.
You dismiss any thought of the evil day and bring in a reign of violence.
You put off the day of punishment. But you bring near the day when you can do evil to others.
“Disbelieving that a day of evil will come, embracing opportunities to commit violence,
Ye that put far away the evil day and cause the seat of violence to come near;
Ye that put far away the evil day, and cause the seat of violence to come near;
Ye that put far away the evil day, and cause the seat of violence to come near;
Do you put off the day of calamity, And would you cause the seat of violence to approach?
You that put off the day of disaster and bring near a reign of violence!
You push away all thought of punishment awaiting you, but by your deeds you bring the Day of Judgment near.
Woe to you who are rushing headlong to disaster! Catastrophe is just around the corner! Woe to those who live in luxury and expect everyone else to serve them! Woe to those who live only for today, indifferent to the fate of others! Woe to the playboys, the playgirls, who think life is a party held just for them! Woe to those addicted to feeling good—life without pain! those obsessed with looking good—life without wrinkles! They could not care less about their country going to ruin.
You who brush off the day of disaster, but bring on a session of lawlessness;
How horrible it will be for those who think that a day of disaster is far away. They bring the reign of violence closer.
You who would put off the day of disaster, yet hasten the time of violence!
Are you postponing the day of disaster, And would you bring near the seat of violence?
Do you put off the day of calamity, And would you bring near the seat of violence?
You put aside all thoughts of the evil day and thereby hasten the reign of violence.
You put off the day of punishment, but you bring near the day when you can do evil to others.
You refuse to believe a day of disaster will come, but you establish a reign of violence.
You are trying to avoid the time when trouble will come. But you are only bringing closer the Assyrian rule of terror.
You put off the day of disaster and bring near a reign of terror.
You put off the day of disaster and bring near a reign of terror.
Woe to you who put far off the day of doom, Who cause the seat of violence to come near;
You put off the day of trouble, and bring near the seat of anger.
You push away every thought of coming disaster, but your actions only bring the day of judgment closer.
O you that put far away the evil day, and bring near a reign of violence?
O you that put far away the evil day, and bring near a reign of violence?
O you that put far away the evil day, and bring near a reign of violence?
you who put far away the evil day and bring near a reign of violence?
Ye that put far away the Yom Rah, and cause the shevet chamas to come near;
O you who put far away the evil day, and bring near the seat of violence?
O you who put far away the evil day, and bring near the seat of violence?
Dismissing the day of calamity, you bring near the throne of violence.
You try to hold off the evil day, but your actions bring the reign of violence ever nearer.
Those who put far away the evil day, and cause the seat of violence to come near;
And ye be parted into the evil day, and nigh to the seat of wickedness; (And ye declare that the evil day is far off, and yet ye do the very wicked things that shall bring it nigh;)
Who are putting away the day of evil, And ye bring nigh the seat of violence,
