How can dust and ashes be arrogant? Even when they are alive, human bodies are decaying.
But nothing is more wicked than the covetous man. Why is earth and ashes proud?
We are only dust and ashes; what have we got to be proud of Our body decays even while we are alive.

Nothing is curseder than an avarice man. What (or Why) art thou proud, thou earth and ashes? Nothing is worse, than for to love money; for why this man hath, yea, his soul set to (or for) sale, for in his life he hath cast away his innerest things.
