Deuteronomy 23:7
“Thou shalt not abhor an Edomite, for he is thy brother. Thou shalt not abhor an Egyptian, because thou wast a stranger in his land.
Thou shalt not abhor an Edomite; for he is thy brother: thou shalt not abhor an Egyptian; because thou wast a sojourner in his land.
“You shall not detest an Edomite, for he is your brother [Esau’s descendant]. You shall not detest an Egyptian, because you were a stranger (resident alien, foreigner) in his land.
You shall not abhor an Edomite, for he is your brother [Esau’s descendant]. You shall not abhor an Egyptian, because you were a stranger and temporary resident in his land.
¶ Thou shalt not abhor an Edomite; for he is thy brother: thou shalt not abhor an Egyptian; because thou wast a stranger in his land.
Do not despise an Edomite, because he is your brother. Do not despise an Egyptian, because you were a resident alien in his land.
Don’t detest Edomites, because they are your relatives. Don’t detest Egyptians because you were immigrants in their land.
So you are never to seek their peace or well being, as long as you live.
But Edomites are your relatives, and you lived as foreigners in the country of Egypt. Now you must be kind to Edomites and Egyptians
Thou shalt not abhor an Edomite; for he is thy brother. Thou shalt not abhor an Egyptian; because thou wast a sojourner in his land.
Thou shalt not abhor the Edomite, because he is thy brother: nor the Egyptian, because thou wast a stranger in his land.
“You must not hate Edomites, because they are your relatives. You must not hate Egyptians, because you were a stranger in their land.
But do not hate anyone from Edom. The Edomites have the same ancestor as you. Do not hate an Egyptian person. You once lived as foreigners in Egypt.
Do not detest an Edomite, because he is your brother. Do not detest an Egyptian, because you were an alien in his land.
“You shall not abhor an Edomite, for he is your brother. You shall not abhor an Egyptian, because you were a sojourner in his land.
“You shall not abhor an Edomite, for he is your brother. You shall not abhor an Egyptian, because you were a sojourner in his land.
Don’t ·hate [detest] Edomites; they are your ·close relatives [brothers; C descendants of Esau the brother of Jacob/Israel]. Don’t ·hate [detest] Egyptians, because you were ·foreigners [resident aliens] in their country [C during the time of Joseph, God’s people survived a famine in Egypt; Gen. 41–42].
¶ Thou shalt not abhor an Edomite: for he is thy brother, neither shalt thou abhor an Egyptian, because thou wast a stranger in his land.
Never consider the Edomites disgusting. They’re your relatives. Never consider the Egyptians disgusting. You once were foreigners living in their country.
“Do not despise the Edomites; they are your relatives. And do not despise the Egyptians; you once lived in their land.
Do not despise an Edomite, because he is your brother. Do not despise an Egyptian, because you were a foreign resident in his land.
Don’t hate Edomites. They are your relatives. Don’t hate Egyptians, because you were foreigners in their country.
Don’t detest Edomites, since they are related to you. Don’t detest Egyptians, either, because you were strangers in their land.

But don’t look down on the Edomites and the Egyptians; the Edomites are your brothers and you lived among the Egyptians.
But don’t spurn an Edomite; he’s your kin. And don’t spurn an Egyptian; you were a foreigner in his land.
You are not to abhor an Edomite, for he is your brother. You shall not abhor an Egyptian, because you were a foreigner in his land.
Never consider the Edomites disgusting. They’re your relatives. Never consider the Egyptians disgusting. You once were foreigners living in their country.
Never seek their welfare or prosperity as long as you live.
“You shall not loathe an Edomite, for he is your brother; you shall not loathe an Egyptian, because you were a stranger in his land.
“You shall not detest an Edomite, for he is your brother; you shall not detest an Egyptian, because you were an alien in his land.
Do not establish a treaty of friendship with them as long as you live.
Don’t hate Edomites; they are your close relatives. Don’t hate Egyptians, because you were foreigners in their country.
You must not hate an Edomite, for he is your relative; you must not hate an Egyptian, for you lived as a foreigner in his land.
Don’t hate the people of Edom. They are your relatives. Don’t hate the people of Egypt. After all, you lived as outsiders in their country.
Do not despise an Edomite, for the Edomites are related to you. Do not despise an Egyptian, because you resided as foreigners in their country.

“You shall not abhor an E′domite, for he is your brother; you shall not abhor an Egyptian, because you were a sojourner in his land.
You are never to seek their shalom or welfare all your days.
Moses: Don’t be hostile toward the Edomites because they’re related to you. And don’t be hostile toward the Egyptians because you were once foreign residents in their land.
You shall not abhor an Edomite, for he is your brother. You shall not abhor an Egyptian, because you lived as a foreigner in his land.
Thou shalt not loathe a man of Idumea, for he is thy brother, neither of a man of Egypt, for thou were a comeling in the land of him. (Thou shalt not despise an Edomite, for he is thy brother, nor an Egyptian, for thou were newcomers in his land.)
