and they said unto them, “We cannot do this thing, to give our sister to one who is uncircumcised, for that would be a reproach unto us.
and said unto them, We cannot do this thing, to give our sister to one that is uncircumcised; for that were a reproach unto us.
They said to them, “We cannot do this thing and give our sister [in marriage] to one who is not circumcised, because that would be a disgrace to us.
They said to them, We cannot do this thing and give our sister to one who is not circumcised, for that would be a reproach and disgrace to us.
And they said unto them, We cannot do this thing, to give our sister to one that is uncircumcised; for that were a reproach unto us:
“We cannot do this thing,” they said to them. “Giving our sister to an uncircumcised man is a disgrace to us.
They said to them, “We can’t do this, allowing our sisters to marry uncircumcised men, because it’s disgraceful to us.
They said to them, “We can’t do it, because it would be a disgrace to give our sister to someone who hasn’t been circumcised.
So they tricked them by saying: You're not circumcised! It would be a disgrace for us to let you marry Dinah now.
and said to them, We cannot do this, to give our sister to one that is uncircumcised; for that [were] a reproach to us.
We cannot do what you demand, nor give our sister to one that is uncircumcised, which with us is unlawful and abominable.
The brothers said to them, “We cannot allow our sister to marry you because you are not yet circumcised. That would bring us shame.
They said, ‘We cannot give our sister to a man who has not been circumcised. We would be ashamed to do this.
They said to them, “We cannot do this—giving our sister to a man who is uncircumcised. That would be a disgrace to us.
They said to them, “We cannot do this thing, to give our sister to one who is uncircumcised, for that would be a disgrace to us.
They said to them, “We cannot do this thing, to give our sister to one who is uncircumcised, for that would be a disgrace to us.
The brothers said to them, “We cannot allow you [L to do this thing] to ·marry our sister [L give our sister as a wife], because you are not circumcised. That would be a ·disgrace [reproach; shame] to us.
And they said unto them, We cannot do this thing, to give our sister to an uncircumcised man: for that were a reproof unto us.
They said, “We can’t do this. We can’t give our sister to a man who is uncircumcised. That would be a disgrace to us!
They said to him, “We cannot let our sister marry a man who is not circumcised; that would be a disgrace for us.
“We cannot do this thing,” they said to them. “Giving our sister to an uncircumcised man is a disgrace to us.
The brothers said to them, “We cannot allow you to marry our sister. You are not circumcised. That would be a disgrace to us.
They told them, “We can’t do this. We can’t give our sister to a man who isn’t circumcised, because that would be insulting to us.
And they said unto them, We cannot do this thing, to give our sister to one that is uncircumcised, for among us that is a reproach.
And they said unto them, We cannot do this thing, to give our sister to one that is uncircumcised; for that were a reproach unto us:
and they said unto them, We cannot do this thing, to give our sister to one that is uncircumcised; for that were a reproach unto us:
And they said to them, “We cannot do this thing, to give our sister to one who is uncircumcised, for that would be a reproach to us.
And they said to them, “We cannot do this thing, to give our sister to a man who is uncircumcised, for that is a disgrace for us.
They said, “We couldn’t possibly. For you are not circumcised. It would be a disgrace for her to marry such a man.
Jacob’s sons answered Shechem and his father with cunning. Their sister, after all, had been raped. They said, “This is impossible. We could never give our sister to a man who was uncircumcised. Why, we’d be disgraced. The only condition on which we can talk business is if all your men become circumcised like us. Then we will freely exchange daughters in marriage and make ourselves at home among you and become one big, happy family. But if this is not an acceptable condition, we will take our sister and leave.”
They said to them, “We cannot do this. To give our sister to one who is uncircumcised would be a disgrace to us.
They said, “We can’t do this. We can’t give our sister to a man who is uncircumcised. That would be a disgrace to us!
They said to them, “We are not able to do this thing: to give our sister to an uncircumcised man. For that would be a disgrace for us.
They said to them, “We cannot do this thing, that is, give our sister to a man who is uncircumcised, for that would be a disgrace to us.
They said to them, “We cannot do this thing, to give our sister to one who is uncircumcised, for that would be a disgrace to us.
They told them, “We cannot do this; we cannot give our sister to a man who is not circumcised. This would dishonor us.
The brothers said to them, “We cannot allow you to marry our sister, because you are not circumcised. That would be a disgrace to us.
They said to them, “We cannot give our sister to a man who is not circumcised, for it would be a disgrace to us.
They said to them, “We can’t do it. We can’t give our sister to a man who isn’t circumcised. That would bring shame on us.
They said to them, “We can’t do such a thing; we can’t give our sister to a man who is not circumcised. That would be a disgrace to us.
They said to them, ‘We can’t do such a thing; we can’t give our sister to a man who is not circumcised. That would be a disgrace to us.
And they said to them, “We cannot do this thing, to give our sister to one who is uncircumcised, for that would be a reproach to us.
They said to them, “We cannot do this. We cannot give our sister to one who has not gone through the religious act of having his flesh cut. For that would be a shame to us.
They said to them, “We couldn’t possibly allow this, because you’re not circumcised. It would be a disgrace for our sister to marry a man like you!
They said to them, ‘We cannot do this thing, to give our sister to one who is uncircumcised, for that would be a disgrace to us.
They said to them, ‘We cannot do this thing, to give our sister to one who is uncircumcised, for that would be a disgrace to us.
They said to them, “We cannot do this thing, to give our sister to one who is uncircumcised, for that would be a disgrace to us.
They said to them, “We cannot do this thing, to give our sister to one who is uncircumcised, for that would be a disgrace to us.
And they said unto them, We cannot do this thing, to give achoteinu (our sister) to ish that is arelah (uncircumcised); for that would be a cherpah (reproach, disgrace) unto us;
They said to them, “We cannot do this thing, to give our sister to one who is uncircumcised, for that would be a disgrace to us.
They said to them, “We cannot do this thing, to give our sister to one who is uncircumcised, for that would be a disgrace to us.
They said to them, “We can’t do this thing—give our sister to a man who is uncircumcised—for this is a disgrace to us.
Jacob’s Sons: We can’t agree to this arrangement: to give our sister to someone who isn’t circumcised would bring shame on all of us.
and said to them, “We can’t do this thing, to give our sister to one who is uncircumcised; for that is a reproach to us.
We may not do this that ye ask, neither we may give our sister to a man uncircumcised, which thing is unleaveful and abominable with us. (and they said, We cannot do this thing that ye ask, for we cannot give our sister to an uncircumcised man, for such a thing is unlawful and abominable with us.)
and say unto them, `We are not able to do this thing, to give our sister to one who hath a foreskin: for it [is] a reproach to us.
