Hebrews 7:23
Print
And those priests truly were many, because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death;
And they indeed have been made priests many in number, because that by death they are hindered from continuing:
The [former successive line of] priests, on the one hand, existed in greater numbers because they were each prevented by death from continuing [perpetually in office];
[Again, the former successive line of priests] was made up of many, because they were each prevented by death from continuing [perpetually in office];
And they truly were many priests, because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death:
Now many have become Levitical priests, since they are prevented by death from remaining in office.
The others who became priests are numerous because death prevented them from continuing to serve.
Moreover, the present cohanim are many in number, because they are prevented by death from continuing in office.
There have been a lot of other priests, and all of them have died.
And they have been many priests, on account of being hindered from continuing by death;
And the many have been [Levitical] priests because of their being prevented from continuing by death—
And the others indeed were made many priests, because by reason of death they were not suffered to continue:
Also, when one of those other priests died, he could not continue being a priest. So there were many of those priests.
In the old way, there were many Levite priests. Each one of them died, so that they could not continue to serve God as priests.
There were many who became priests because death prevented any of them from continuing to remain in office.
The former priests were many in number, because they were prevented by death from continuing in office,
The former priests were many in number, because they were prevented by death from continuing in office,
When one of the other priests died, he could not continue being a priest. So there were many priests.
And among them many were made Priests, because they were not suffered to endure, by the reason of death.
There was a long succession of priests because when a priest died he could no longer serve.
There is another difference: there were many of those other priests, because they died and could not continue their work.
Now many have become Levitical priests, since they are prevented by death from remaining in office.
Also, when one of the other priests died, he could not continue being a priest. So there were many priests.
There have been many priests, since each one of them had to stop serving in office when he died.
And he is, by virtue of this fact, himself the living guarantee of a “better” agreement. Human High Priests have always been changing, for death made a permanent appointment impossible. But Christ, because he lives for ever, possesses a priesthood that needs no successor. This means that he can save fully and completely those who approach God through him, for he is always living to intercede on their behalf.
And the others, truly, were many priests because they were not able to continue by reason of death:
And they truly were many priests, because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death:
And they truly were many priests, because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death:
And the former priests, on the one hand, existed in greater numbers because they were prevented by death from continuing,
And indeed many have become priests, because they were prevented by death from continuing in office,
Under the old arrangement there had to be many priests so that when the older ones died off, the system could still be carried on by others who took their places.
Earlier there were a lot of priests, for they died and had to be replaced. But Jesus’ priesthood is permanent. He’s there from now to eternity to save everyone who comes to God through him, always on the job to speak up for them.
And the former priests were numerous because they were hindered from serving because of death.
Now on the one hand, these many have become priests because they were hindered by death from continuing in office,
There was a long succession of priests because when a priest died he could no longer serve.
Those priests were many because they were prevented by death from remaining in office,
The former priests, on the one hand, existed in greater numbers because they were prevented by death from continuing;
The former priests, on the one hand, existed in greater numbers because they were prevented by death from continuing,
Furthermore, the former priests were many in number, because they were prevented by death from remaining in office.
When one of the other priests died, he could not continue being a priest. So there were many priests.
And the others who became priests were numerous, because death prevented them from continuing in office,
There were many priests in Levi’s family line. Death kept them from continuing in office.
Now there have been many of those priests, since death prevented them from continuing in office;
Now there have been many of those priests, since death prevented them from continuing in office;
Also there were many priests, because they were prevented by death from continuing.
There had to be many religious leaders during the time of the Old Way of Worship. They died and others had to keep on in their work.
There were many priests under the old system, for death prevented them from remaining in office.
And among the Levites many were made priests, because they were prevented from continuing by death.
Furthermore, the former priests were many in number, because they were prevented by death from continuing in office;
Furthermore, the former priests were many in number, because they were prevented by death from continuing in office;
Furthermore, the former priests were many in number, because they were prevented by death from continuing in office;
Furthermore, the former priests were many in number because they were prevented by death from continuing in office,
There needed to be a large number of Levitical priests, since they stop holding office at death.
Not only this, but it was the fact that the former kohanim were many in number, because mavet prevented them from continuing in the office of kehunah.
And among them many were made priests, because they were not allowed to endure by the reason of death.
The former priests were many in number, because they were prevented by death from continuing in office;
The former priests were many in number, because they were prevented by death from continuing in office;
Now on the one hand, many have become kohanim, who through death are prevented from continuing in office.
Further, the prior priesthood of the sons of Levi has included many priests because death cut short their service,
Many, indeed, have been made priests, because they are hindered from continuing by death.
The other priests were many, because they died and could not go on with their work.
And [soothly] the others were made many priests, therefore for they were forbidden by death to dwell still [for that they were forbidden by death to dwell];
and those indeed are many who have become priests, because by death they are hindered from remaining;
