When Ephraim saw his sickness, And Judah his wound, Then Ephraim went to Assyria [instead of the Lord] And sent to [Assyria’s] great King Jareb [for help]. But he cannot heal you Nor will he cure you of your wound [received in judgment].

And Ephraim saw his sickness, and Juda his band: and Ephraim went to the Assyrian, and sent to the avenging king: and he shall not be able to heal you, neither shall he be able to take off the band from you.
“When ·Israel [L Ephraim; 4:17] saw its illness and Judah saw its ·wounds [or sores], ·Israel [L Ephraim] went to Assyria for help and sent to the great ·king of Assyria [L king]. But he cannot heal you or cure your wounds.
“Israel saw how weak she was. Judah saw the wounds she suffered. So Israel turned to Assyria for help. She sent to the great king of Assyria for help. But he cannot heal you. He cannot cure your wound.
When Ephraim realized that he was ill and Judah noted that he was covered with sores, Ephraim went to Assyria, and Judah sent envoys to the great king. However, he has no power to cure you or to heal your sores.
“The people of Ephraim saw how sick they were. The people of Judah saw that they were wounded. Then Ephraim turned to Assyria for help. They sent gifts to the great King Tiglath-Pileser. But he is not able to make you well. He can’t heal your wounds.
And Ephraim saw his sickness, and Judah saw his bond. And Ephraim went to Assur, and sent to the king venger. And he may not save you, neither he may unbind the bond from you. (And Ephraim saw his sickness, and Judah saw his wound. And Ephraim went to Assyria, and sent to the great king for help. But he cannot save you, nor can he cure you of your wound.)
