In the year that Tartan came unto Ashdod (when Sargon the king of Assyria sent him), and fought against Ashdod and took it,

In the year that the Tartan [the Assyrian commander in chief] came to Ashdod [in Philistia], when Sargon king of Assyria sent him and he fought against Ashdod and captured it,
In the year that the Tartan [Assyrian commander in chief] came to Ashdod in Philistia, sent by Sargon king of Assyria, he fought against Ashdod and took it.

In the year that Assyria’s King Sargon sent his general to Ashdod, he fought against Ashdod and captured it.

King Sargon of Assyria gave orders for his army commander to capture the city of Ashdod.

In the year that Tharthan entered into Azotus, when Sargon the king of the Assyrians had sent him, and he had fought against Azotus, and had taken it:
Sargon was the king of Assyria. He sent his military commander to fight against Ashdod. The commander went there and captured the city.
One year, Sargon, the king of Assyria, sent the leader of his army to attack Ashdod. His army fought against Ashdod and they took the city.
In the year that the field commander sent by Sargon king of Assyria came to Ashdod and attacked and captured it—
In the year that the commander in chief, who was sent by Sargon the king of Assyria, came to Ashdod and fought against it and captured it—
In the year that the commander-in-chief, who was sent by Sargon the king of Assyria, came to Ashdod and fought against it and captured it—
[L In the year that; C about 712 bc] Sargon king of Assyria sent ·a military commander [or his commander-in-chief] to Ashdod [C a Philistine city] to attack that city. So the commander attacked and captured it.

Under the orders of Emperor Sargon of Assyria, the commander-in-chief of the Assyrian army attacked the Philistine city of Ashdod.
In the year that the chief commander, sent by Sargon king of Assyria, came to Ashdod and attacked and captured it—
Sargon was the king of Assyria. He sent a military commander to Ashdod to attack that city. So the commander attacked and captured it.
In the year that the supreme commander, sent by Sargon the king of Assyria, came to Ashdod, attacked it, and captured it—

The Lord revealed the following message during the year in which King Sargon of Assyria sent his commanding general to Ashdod, and he fought against it and captured it.
Sargon, the king of Assyria, sent his highest commander to the city of Ashdod. He attacked it and captured it.
