They have not known nor understood; for He hath shut their eyes, that they cannot see, and their hearts, that they cannot understand.
They know not, neither do they consider: for he hath shut their eyes, that they cannot see; and their hearts, that they cannot understand.

They do not know or understand, for their eyes God has let become besmeared so that they cannot see, and their minds as well so that they cannot understand.

Such people do not comprehend and cannot understand, for he has shut their eyes so they cannot see, and their minds so they cannot understand.
They don’t know or comprehend, for their eyes can’t see and their minds can’t comprehend.
Such people know nothing, understand nothing. Their eyes are sealed shut, so that they can’t see; their hearts too, so they can’t understand.
Those who worship idols are stupid and blind!
They have no knowledge, and understand not; for he hath plastered their eyes, that they may not see; and their hearts, that they may not understand.
They have not known, nor understood: for their eyes are covered that they may not see, and that they may not understand with their heart.
People like that don’t know what they are doing! They don’t understand. It is as if they have mud in their eyes so they cannot see. Their minds cannot understand.
People like that are stupid. They do not understand anything. They cannot see the truth, as if they are blind. Their minds cannot think properly.
They are ignorant. They do not understand, because their eyes are plastered shut, and they cannot see. Their hearts are unable to gain insight.
They know not, nor do they discern, for he has shut their eyes, so that they cannot see, and their hearts, so that they cannot understand.

Those people ·don’t know what they are doing [or know nothing]. They ·don’t understand [are ignorant]! ·It is as if their eyes are covered [or They shut their eyes] so they can’t see. Their minds don’t understand.

Such stupidity and ignorance! God has shut their eyes so that they cannot see and closed their minds from understanding.
Pretty stupid, wouldn’t you say? Don’t they have eyes in their heads? Are their brains working at all? Doesn’t it occur to them to say, “Half of this tree I used for firewood: I baked bread, roasted meat, and enjoyed a good meal. And now I’ve used the rest to make a repulsive no-god. Here I am praying to a stick of wood!”
They have not known nor understood; for He has shut their eyes so that they cannot see, and their hearts so that they cannot understand.
They don’t know or understand anything. Their eyes are plastered shut, so they can’t see. And their minds are closed, so they can’t understand.

So we see again how it is that they’re blind—their eyes shut to the truth in front of them, their hearts and minds refusing to think and really understand what’s going on. So without stopping to think about it, the fool says, “Gosh, I used half of the wood to build a fire, and baked the bread and roasted the meat over its hot coals. After I eat, I think I’ll use the rest of it to make a repulsive god. Maybe I’ll bow down to this leftover lumber.”
They don’t know, neither do they consider: for he has shut their eyes, that they can’t see; and their hearts, that they can’t understand.
They knew not, neither understood, for they have forgotten, that their eyes see not, and that they understand not with their heart.
They have not known, nor do they understand, For He hath daubed their eyes from seeing, Their heart from acting wisely.
