Isaiah 48:9

“For My name’s sake will I defer Mine anger, and for My praise will I refrain for thee, that I cut thee not off.
For my name’s sake will I defer mine anger, and for my praise will I refrain for thee, that I cut thee not off.
“For the sake of My Name I refrain from My wrath, And for My praise I restrain Myself from you, So that I do not cut you off.
For My name’s sake I defer My anger, and for the sake of My praise I restrain it for you, that I may not cut you off.
¶ For my name’s sake will I defer mine anger, and for my praise will I refrain for thee, that I cut thee not off.
I will delay my anger for the sake of my name, and I will restrain myself for your benefit and for my praise, so that you will not be destroyed.
For the sake of my reputation I control my anger; for your sake I restrain my powerful radiance so as to not destroy you.
Yet for the sake of my own reputation I am deferring my anger; for the sake of my praise I am patient with you, so as not to cut you off.
I, the Lord, am true to myself; I will be praised for not punishing and destroying you.
For my name's sake I will defer mine anger, and [for] my praise will I refrain as to thee, that I cut thee not off.
For my name's sake I will remove my wrath far off: and for my praise I will bridle thee, lest thou shouldst perish.
“But I will be patient. I will do this for myself. People will praise me for not becoming angry and destroying you. You will praise me for waiting.
Because of who I am, I will keep my anger until later. I will not destroy you now, so that people will praise my name.
For my name’s sake, I am slow to express my anger. So that I will be praised, I will hold it back from you. As a result, you are not cut off.
“For my name's sake I defer my anger; for the sake of my praise I restrain it for you, that I may not cut you off.
“For my name's sake I defer my anger, for the sake of my praise I restrain it for you, that I may not cut you off.
But for my ·own [L name’s] sake I will ·be patient [L hold back my anger]. ·People will praise me because [L For the sake of my praise] I did not become angry and ·destroy you [cut you off].
For my Name’s sake will I defer my wrath, and for my praise, will I refrain it from thee, that I cut thee not off.
For my name’s sake I’ll be patient. For my glory’s sake I’ll hold my anger back from you, rather than destroy you.
“In order that people will praise my name, I am holding my anger in check; I am keeping it back and will not destroy you.
I will delay My anger for the honor of My name, and I will restrain Myself for your benefit and for My praise, so that you will not be destroyed.
But for my own sake I will be patient. People will praise me for not becoming angry and destroying you.
I defer my anger for my name’s sake, and as my first act I’m restraining it for you, so as not to cut you off.
¶ For my name’s sake I will defer my anger, and for my praise I will wait patiently for thee that I not cut thee off.
For my name's sake will I defer mine anger, and for my praise will I refrain for thee, that I cut thee not off.
For my name’s sake will I defer mine anger, and for my praise will I refrain for thee, that I cut thee not off.
For the sake of My name I delay My anger, And for My praise I restrain it for you, In order not to cut you off.
For the sake of my name I refrain from my anger, and for my praise I restrain it for you so as not to cut you off.
Yet for my own sake and for the honor of my name I will hold back my anger and not wipe you out.
“And now listen to this, family of Jacob, you who are called by the name Israel: Who got you started in the loins of Judah, you who use God’s name to back up your promises and pray to the God of Israel? But do you mean it? Do you live like it? You claim to be citizens of the Holy City; you act as though you lean on the God of Israel, named God-of-the-Angel-Armies. For a long time now, I’ve let you in on the way I work: I told you what I was going to do beforehand, then I did it and it was done, and that’s that. I know you’re a bunch of hardheads, obstinate and flint-faced, So I got a running start and began telling you what was going on before it even happened. That is why you can’t say, ‘My god-idol did this.’ ‘My favorite god-carving commanded this.’ You have all this evidence confirmed by your own eyes and ears. Shouldn’t you be talking about it? And that was just the beginning. I have a lot more to tell you, things you never knew existed. This isn’t a variation on the same old thing. This is new, brand-new, something you’d never guess or dream up. When you hear this you won’t be able to say, ‘I knew that all along.’ You’ve never been good listeners to me. You have a history of ignoring me, A sorry track record of fickle attachments— rebels from the womb. But out of the sheer goodness of my heart, because of who I am, I keep a tight rein on my anger and hold my temper. I don’t wash my hands of you. Do you see what I’ve done? I’ve refined you, but not without fire. I’ve tested you like silver in the furnace of affliction. Out of myself, simply because of who I am, I do what I do. I have my reputation to keep up. I’m not playing second fiddle to either gods or people.
For My name’s sake I will defer My anger, and for My praise I will restrain it for you so that you are not cut off.
For my name’s sake I’ll be patient. For my glory’s sake I’ll hold my anger back from you, rather than destroy you.
For the sake of my name I restrain my anger, for the sake of my renown I hold it back from you, lest I destroy you.
For the sake of My name I delay My wrath, And for My praise I restrain it for you, In order not to cut you off.
“For the sake of My name I delay My wrath, And for My praise I restrain it for you, In order not to cut you off.
For the sake of my name I will restrain my anger; for the sake of my honor I will be patient with you lest I should be tempted to destroy you.
But for my own sake I will be patient. People will praise me for not becoming angry and destroying you.
For the sake of my reputation I hold back my anger; for the sake of my prestige I restrain myself from destroying you.
For the honor of my own name I wait to show my anger. I hold it back from you so people will continue to praise me. I do not want to destroy you completely.
For my own name’s sake I delay my wrath; for the sake of my praise I hold it back from you, so as not to destroy you completely.
For my own name’s sake I delay my wrath; for the sake of my praise I hold it back from you, so as not to destroy you completely.
“For My name’s sake I will defer My anger, And for My praise I will restrain it from you, So that I do not cut you off.
Because of My name I hold back My anger. For My praise I keep Myself from cutting you off.
Yet for my own sake and for the honor of my name, I will hold back my anger and not wipe you out.
For my name’s sake I defer my anger, for the sake of my praise I restrain it for you, so that I may not cut you off.
For my name’s sake I defer my anger, for the sake of my praise I restrain it for you, so that I may not cut you off.
For my name’s sake I defer my anger, for the sake of my praise I restrain it for you, so that I may not cut you off.
For my name’s sake I defer my anger; for the sake of my praise I restrain it for you, so that I may not cut you off.
Lema’an Shmi (for the sake of My Name) will I defer Mine anger, and for My tehillah (praise) will I refrain for thee, that I cut thee not off.
“For my name’s sake I defer my anger, for the sake of my praise I restrain it for you, that I may not cut you off.
“For my name’s sake I defer my anger, for the sake of my praise I restrain it for you, that I may not cut you off.
For My Name’s sake I defer My anger, for My praise I will restrain it for you— otherwise I would cut you off.
On account of My reputation, I hold back my anger; for My own weighty grandeur, I am patient with you, So that I don’t make an absolute break with you.
For my name’s sake, I will defer my anger, and for my praise, I hold it back for you so that I don’t cut you off.
For my name I shall make far my strong vengeance, and with my praising I shall refrain (for) thee, lest thou perish. (For the sake of my name I shall make my strong vengeance to go far away, and for the sake of my praises I shall refrain from hurting thee, lest thou perish.)
For My name's sake I defer Mine anger, And My praise I restrain for thee, So as not to cut thee off.
