Adonai answers: “Because they abandoned my Torah, which I set before them, and neither listened to what I said nor lived accordingly,
I said to the Lord, “None of us can understand why the land has become like an uncrossable desert. Won't you explain why?”

I said, ‘Nobody is wise enough to understand this. The Lord has not told anyone, so that he can explain it to others. Why has our land become like a desert so that nobody travels through it? Does anyone know the answer?’

I asked, “Lord, why is the land devastated and dry as a desert, so that no one travels through it? Who is wise enough to understand this? To whom have you explained it so that they can tell others?”

I asked, “Is there anyone around bright enough to tell us what’s going on here? Anyone who has the inside story from God and can let us in on it? “Why is the country wasted? “Why no travelers in this desert?”
