Jeremiah 49:4

Why gloriest thou in the valleys, thy flowing valley, O backsliding daughter, that trusted in her treasures, saying, ‘Who shall come unto me?’
Wherefore gloriest thou in the valleys, thy flowing valley, O backsliding daughter? that trusted in her treasures, saying, Who shall come unto me?
“Why do you boast of your valleys? Your valley is flowing away, [O Ammon] rebellious and faithless daughter Who trusts in her treasures, saying, ‘Who will come against me?’
Why do you boast of your valleys? Your valley flows away, O [Ammon] rebellious and faithless daughter, who trusted in her treasures, who said, Who can come against me?
Wherefore gloriest thou in the valleys, thy flowing valley, O backsliding daughter? that trusted in her treasures, saying, Who shall come unto me?
Why do you boast about your valleys, your flowing valley, you faithless daughter— you who trust in your treasures and say, “Who can attack me?”
Why do you brag about your strength? Your strength is exhausted, you rebellious daughter. You trust in your treasures, never imagining who would attack you.
Why do you take such pride in the valleys, your well-watered valleys, rebellious daughter? You trusted in your riches and thought, ‘Who can attack me?’
You rebellious Ammonites trust your wealth and ask, “Who could attack us?” But I warn you not to boast when your strength is fading.
Wherefore gloriest thou in the valleys? Thy valley shall flow down, O backsliding daughter, that trusteth in her treasures, [saying,] Who shall come against me?
Why gloriest thou in the valleys? thy valley hath flowed away, O delicate daughter, that hast trusted in thy treasures, and hast said: Who shall come to me?
You brag about your strength, but you are losing your strength. You trust in your wealth to save you. You think no one would even think of attacking you.”
You people of Ammon boast about your power. But that will soon come to an end! You have not been faithful. You have trusted in your riches and you say, “Nobody will be able to attack us!” ’
Why do you boast about your valleys, your flowing valley, you backsliding daughter? You trusted in your treasures, saying, “Who will come against me?”
Why do you boast of your valleys, O faithless daughter, who trusted in her treasures, saying, ‘Who will come against me?’
Why do you boast of your valleys, O faithless daughter, who trusted in her treasures, saying, ‘Who will come against me?’
·You [L Why do you…?] brag about your valleys and about the fruit in your valleys. You are like an ·unfaithful [rebellious] ·child [L daughter] who ·believes her treasures will save her [L trusts/has confidence in her treasures/arsenals]. You think, ‘Who would attack me?’
Wherefore gloriest thou in the valleys? thy valley floweth away, O rebellious daughter: she trusted in her treasures, saying, Who shall come unto me?
Why do you brag about your valleys, your fertile valleys, you unfaithful people? You trust your treasures. You think, “Who would attack me?”
Why do you unfaithful people boast? Your strength is failing. Why do you trust in your power and say that no one would dare attack you?
Why do you brag about your valleys, your flowing valley, you faithless daughter? You who trust in your treasures and boast, “Who can attack me?”
You brag about your valleys. You brag about the fruit in your valleys. You are like an unfaithful child. You believe your treasures will save you. You think, ‘Who would attack me?’
Why do you boast in your valleys? Your valley is flowing away, faithless daughter, who trusted in her treasures, saying, ‘Who will come against me?’
Why gloriest thou in the valleys? Thy valley has slipped, O backsliding daughter that trusted in her treasures, she that saith, Who shall come against me?
Wherefore gloriest thou in the valleys, thy flowing valley, O backsliding daughter? that trusted in her treasures, saying, Who shall come unto me?
Wherefore gloriest thou in the valleys, thy flowing valley, O backsliding daughter? that trusted in her treasures, saying, Who shall come unto me?
How boastful you are about the valleys! Your valley is flowing away, O faithless daughter Who trusts in her treasures, saying, ‘Who will come against me?’
Why do you boast in your valleys? Your valleys are ebbing. O unfaithful daughter, who trusted in her treasures, who said, ‘Who will come against me?’
You are proud of your fertile valleys, but they will soon be ruined. O wicked daughter, you trusted in your wealth and thought no one could ever harm you.
God’s Message on the Ammonites: “Doesn’t Israel have any children, no one to step into her inheritance? So why is the god Milcom taking over Gad’s land, his followers moving into its towns? But not for long! The time’s coming” —God’s Decree— “When I’ll fill the ears of Rabbah, Ammon’s big city, with battle cries. She’ll end up a pile of rubble, all her towns burned to the ground. Then Israel will kick out the invaders. I, God, say so, and it will be so. Wail Heshbon, Ai is in ruins. Villages of Rabbah, wring your hands! Dress in mourning, weep buckets of tears. Go into hysterics, run around in circles! Your god Milcom will be hauled off to exile, and all his priests and managers right with him. Why do you brag of your once-famous strength? You’re a broken-down has-been, a castoff Who fondles his trophies and dreams of glory days and vainly thinks, ‘No one can lay a hand on me.’ Well, think again. I’ll face you with terror from all sides.” Word of the Master, God-of-the-Angel-Armies. “You’ll be stampeded headlong, with no one to round up the runaways. Still, the time will come when I will make things right with Ammon.” God’s Decree.
Why do you glory in the valleys, your flowing valley, O backsliding daughter who trusts in her treasures, saying, “Who shall come against me?”
Why do you brag about your valleys, your fertile valleys, you unfaithful people? You trust your treasures. You think, “Who would attack me?”
Why boast in your strength, your ebbing strength, rebellious daughter? Why trust in your treasures, saying, “Who would dare attack me?”
How you boast about the valleys! Your valley is flowing away, You backsliding daughter Who trusts in her treasures, saying, ‘Who can come against me?’
“How boastful you are about the valleys! Your valley is flowing away, O backsliding daughter Who trusts in her treasures, saying, ‘Who will come against me?’
Why do you glory in your strength that is now beginning to ebb? O rebellious daughter, you place your trust in your treasures, saying, “Who will dare to attack me?”
You brag about your valleys and about the fruit in your valleys. You are like an unfaithful child who believes his treasures will save him. You think, ‘Who would attack me?’
Why do you brag about your great power? Your power is ebbing away, you rebellious people of Ammon, who trust in your riches and say, ‘Who would dare to attack us?’
Why do you brag about your valleys? You brag that they produce so many crops. Ammon, you are an unfaithful country. You trust in your riches. You say, ‘Who will attack me?’
Why do you boast of your valleys, boast of your valleys so fruitful? Unfaithful Daughter Ammon, you trust in your riches and say, ‘Who will attack me?’
Why do you boast of your valleys, boast of your valleys so fruitful? Unfaithful Daughter Ammon, you trust in your riches and say, “Who will attack me?”
Why do you boast in the valleys, Your flowing valley, O backsliding daughter? Who trusted in her treasures, saying, ‘Who will come against me?’
How you speak in pride about the valleys! Your valley is flowing away, O daughter without faith who trusts in her riches, saying, ‘Who will come against me?’
You are proud of your fertile valleys, but they will soon be ruined. You trusted in your wealth, you rebellious daughter, and thought no one could ever harm you.
Why do you boast in your strength? Your strength is ebbing, O faithless daughter. You trusted in your treasures, saying, ‘Who will attack me?’

Why do you boast in your strength? Your strength is ebbing, O faithless daughter. You trusted in your treasures, saying, “Who will attack me?”
Why do you boast in your strength? Your strength is ebbing, O faithless daughter. Who trusted in her treasures, saying, “Who will attack me?”
Why gloriest thou in the valleys, thy flowing emek (valley), O Bat hashovevah (backsliding Daughter)? That trusted in her otzarot, saying, Who shall come unto Me?
Why do you boast of your valleys, O faithless daughter, who trusted in her treasures, saying, ‘Who will come against me?’
Why do you boast of your valleys, O faithless daughter, who trusted in her treasures, saying, ‘Who will come against me?’
Why do you brag about valleys— your flowing valley, faithless daughter? Trusting in your treasures: ‘Who will come against me?’
You boast of your abundant valleys, you faithless daughter, but they are fading away. You trusted in your own wealth and thought, “Who could ever attack me?”
Why do you boast in the valleys, your flowing valley, backsliding daughter? You trusted in her treasures, saying, ‘Who will come to me?’
What hast thou glory in valleys? Thy valleys floated away, thou delicate daughter, that haddest trust in thy treasures, and saidest, Who shall come to me? (Why hast thou glory over rich valleys? For thy valleys have floated away, thou delicate daughter, ye who haddest trust in thy treasures, and saidest, Who shall come against me?)
What -- dost thou boast thyself in valleys? Flowed hath thy valley, O backsliding daughter, Who is trusting in her treasures: Who doth come in unto me?
