O Lord, I know that the way of man is not in himself; it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.
O Jehovah, I know that the way of man is not in himself; it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.
O Lord, I know that the path of [life of] a man is not in himself; It is not within [the limited ability of] man [even one at his best] to choose and direct his steps [in life].
O Lord [pleads Jeremiah in the name of the people], I know that [the determination of] the way of a man is not in himself; it is not in man [even in a strong man or in a man at his best] to direct his [own] steps.
¶ O Lord, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.
I know, Lord, that a person’s way of life is not his own; no one who walks determines his own steps.
I know, Lord, that our lives are not our own, that we’re not able to direct our paths.
Adonai, I know that the way of humans is not in their control, humans are not able to direct their steps as they walk.
I know, Lord, that we humans are not in control of our own lives.
I know, Jehovah, that the way of man is not his own; it is not in a man that walketh to direct his steps.
I know, O Lord, that the way of a man is not his: neither is it in a man to walk, and to direct his steps.
Lord, I know that our lives do not belong to us. We have no control over what happens.
Lord, I know that nobody controls their own life. Nobody can decide what will happen to them.
I know, Lord, that a man’s way is not his own, nor can a man direct his own steps.
I know, O Lord, that the way of man is not in himself, that it is not in man who walks to direct his steps.

Lord, I know that ·our lives don’t really belong to us [L his way/path does not belong to people]. ·We can’t control our own lives [L People as they walk cannot establish their steps].
O Lord, I know that the way of man is not in himself, neither is it in man to walk and to direct his steps.
O Lord, I know that the way humans act is not under their control. Humans do not direct their steps as they walk.
Lord, I know that none of us are in charge of our own destiny; none of us have control over our own life.
I know, Lord, that a man’s way of life is not his own; no one who walks determines his own steps.
Lord, I know that a person’s life doesn’t really belong to him. No one can control his own life.
Lord, I know that a person’s life is not his to control, nor does a person establish his way in life.
O LORD, I know that man is not the lord of his own way: it is not in man that walks to order his steps.
O Lord, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.

I know, O Yahweh, that a man’s way is not in himself, Nor is it in a man who walks to direct his steps.
I know, O Yahweh, that to the human is not his own way, nor to a person is the walking and the directing of his own step.
O Lord, I know it is not within the power of man to map his life and plan his course—
I know, God, that mere mortals can’t run their own lives, That men and women don’t have what it takes to take charge of life. So correct us, God, as you see best. Don’t lose your temper. That would be the end of us. Vent your anger on the godless nations, who refuse to acknowledge you, And on the people who won’t pray to you— The very ones who’ve made a meal out of Jacob, yes, made a meal And devoured him whole, people and pastures alike.

I am finally aware, O Lord, that man is not in control of his destiny and that it is not in his power to determine the course of his life.
