He looseth the bond of kings, and girdeth their loins with a girdle.

He looses the fetters [ordered] by kings and has [the] waistcloth [of a slave] bound about their [own] loins.

He weakeneth the government of kings, and bindeth their loins with a fetter;
He looseth the belt of kings, and girdeth their loins with a cord.
He strips kings of their authority and makes them slaves.
He takes authority away from kings. He dresses them like slaves.
He takes away the ruling power of kings, and he wraps a loincloth around their waist.
He looses the bonds of kings and binds a waistcloth on their hips.

He ·takes off chains that kings put on [or loosens the sash of kings] and ·puts a garment on their bodies [or tightens the waistcloth around their hips; C he undermines their royal prerogatives and powers and causes them pain].
He looseth the collar of kings, and girdeth their loins with a girdle.
He loosens kings’ belts and strips them of their pants.
He dethrones kings and makes them prisoners;
He releases the bonds put on by kings and fastens a belt around their waists.
God takes the royal belt off of kings. And he dresses them like prisoners with only a cloth around their waist.
He strips away the authority of kings to punish and puts them in prison clothes instead.
He looses the bond of kings and girds their loins with a girdle.
He looseth the bond of kings, and girdeth their loins with a girdle.

He opens the bond of kings And binds their loins with a belt.
He loosens the fetters of kings, and he binds a loincloth on their loins.
He reduces kings to slaves and frees their servants.
“True wisdom and real power belong to God; from him we learn how to live, and also what to live for. If he tears something down, it’s down for good; if he locks people up, they’re locked up for good. If he holds back the rain, there’s a drought; if he lets it loose, there’s a flood. Strength and success belong to God; both deceived and deceiver must answer to him. He strips experts of their vaunted credentials, exposes judges as witless fools. He divests kings of their royal garments, then ties a rag around their waists. He strips priests of their robes, and fires high officials from their jobs. He forces trusted sages to keep silence, deprives elders of their good sense and wisdom. He dumps contempt on famous people, disarms the strong and mighty. He shines a spotlight into caves of darkness, hauls deepest darkness into the noonday sun. He makes nations rise and then fall, builds up some and abandons others. He robs world leaders of their reason, and sends them off into no-man’s-land. They grope in the dark without a clue, lurching and staggering like drunks.”

He sets people free from the chains that kings put on them. Then he dresses the kings in the clothes of slaves.
