Even though the idols are dressed in rich purple clothing, the Gentiles have to wipe off the idols’ faces because of the dust in the temple that thickly covers them.
or even give some of it to the prostitutes on the terrace. They deck their gods out with garments like human beings—these gods of silver and gold and wood
that cannot save themselves from rust and decay. When they have been dressed in purple robes,
and even give some of it to the harlots in the brothel. They deck their gods out with garments like men—these gods of silver and gold and wood,
Soothly they give also of that to whores, and array [or adorn] whores; and again when they receive that of (or from) whores, they array [or they adorn] their gods.
