“‘And if ye will not for all this hearken unto Me, but walk contrary unto Me,
And if ye will not for all this hearken unto me, but walk contrary unto me;
‘Yet if in spite of this you will not [attentively] listen to Me but act with hostility against me,
And if in spite of all this you will not listen and give heed to Me but walk contrary to Me,
And if ye will not for all this hearken unto me, but walk contrary unto me;
“And if in spite of this you do not obey me but act with hostility toward me,
If, despite all this, you still do not obey me and continue to oppose me,
“‘And if, for all this, you still will not listen to me, but go against me;
Then if you don't stop rebelling,
And if for this ye hearken not to me, but walk contrary unto me,
But if you will not for all this hearken to me, but will walk against me:
“If you still refuse to listen to me, and if you still turn against me,
If the people still turn away from God, he will be even more angry. They will not turn away from their sin.
But if, in spite of all this, you will not listen to me and remain hostile to me,
“But if in spite of this you will not listen to me, but walk contrary to me,
“But if in spite of this you will not listen to me, but walk contrary to me,
“‘If you still refuse to ·listen to [obey] me and still turn against me,
Yet if ye will not for this obey me, but walk against me stubbornly,
“If in spite of this you do not listen to me and still resist me,
“If after all of this you still continue to defy me and refuse to obey me,
“And if in spite of this you do not obey Me but act with hostility toward Me,
“‘If you still refuse to listen to me, and if you still turn against me,
“If, after all of this time, you don’t listen to me, but instead live life contrary to me,
And if ye will not for all this hearken unto me but walk contrary unto me,
And if ye will not for all this hearken unto me, but walk contrary unto me;
And if ye will not for all this hearken unto me, but walk contrary unto me;
‘Yet, if in spite of this you do not obey Me, but walk in hostility against Me,
“‘And if through this you do not listen to me and you go against me in hostility,
“And if you still won’t listen to me or obey me,
“And if this—even this!—doesn’t work and you still won’t listen, still defy me, I’ll have had enough and in hot anger will defy you, punishing you for your sins seven times over: famine will be so severe that you’ll end up cooking and eating your sons in stews and your daughters in barbecues; I’ll smash your sex-and-religion shrines and all the paraphernalia that goes with them, and then stack your corpses and the idol-corpses in the same piles—I’ll abhor you; I’ll turn your cities into rubble; I’ll clean out your sanctuaries; I’ll hold my nose at the “pleasing aroma” of your sacrifices. I’ll turn your land into a lifeless moonscape—your enemies who come in to take over will be shocked at what they see. I’ll scatter you all over the world and keep after you with the point of my sword in your backs. There’ll be nothing left in your land, nothing going on in your cities. With you gone and dispersed in the countries of your enemies, the land, empty of you, will finally get a break and enjoy its Sabbath years. All the time it’s left there empty, the land will get rest, the Sabbaths it never got when you lived there.
If you will not listen to Me for all this, but walk contrary to Me,
“If in spite of this you do not listen to me and still resist me,
If, despite all this, you disobey and continue hostile to me,
‘Yet if in spite of this you do not obey Me, but act with hostility against Me,
‘Yet if in spite of this you do not obey Me, but act with hostility against Me,
“But if after all of this you still will not obey me but walk in opposition to me,
“‘If you still refuse to listen to me and still turn against me,
“‘If in spite of this you do not obey me but walk in hostility against me,
“ ‘After all that, suppose you still do not listen to me. And suppose you continue to be my enemy.
“‘If in spite of this you still do not listen to me but continue to be hostile toward me,
‘“If in spite of this you still do not listen to me but continue to be hostile towards me,
‘And after all this, if you do not obey Me, but walk contrary to Me,
‘If you still do not obey Me after all this, but go against Me,
“If in spite of all this you still refuse to listen and still remain hostile toward me,
But if, despite this, you disobey me, and continue hostile to me,
But if, despite this, you disobey me, and continue hostile to me,
But if, despite this, you disobey me, and continue hostile to me,
“But if, despite this, you disobey me and continue hostile to me,
And if ye will not for all this pay heed unto Me, but walk b’keri (contrary, hostile) unto Me,
“And if in spite of this you will not hearken to me, but walk contrary to me,
“And if in spite of this you will not hearken to me, but walk contrary to me,
“Yet if in spite of this you will not listen to Me but walk contrary to Me,
If, after all this, you still do not listen to Me but continue to rebel against Me,
“‘If you in spite of this won’t listen to me, but walk contrary to me,
But if neither by these things ye will hear me, but go against me, (And if, in spite of all these things, ye still will not listen to me, but continue to go against me,)
