Whoso therefore shall swear by the altar, sweareth by it and by all things thereon.

Therefore, whoever swears [an oath] by the altar, swears both by it and by everything [offered] on it.
So whoever swears by the altar swears by it and by everything on it.
Whoso therefore shall swear by the altar, sweareth by it, and by all things thereon.
Therefore, the one who takes an oath by the altar takes an oath by it and by everything on it.
Therefore, those who swear by the altar swear by it and by everything that’s on it.
So someone who swears by the altar swears by it and everything on it.
Anyone who swears by the altar also swears by everything on it.
He therefore that swears by the altar swears by it and by all things that are upon it.
Therefore, the one having sworn by the altar is swearing by it and by all the things on it.
He therefore that sweareth by the altar, sweareth by it, and by all things that are upon it:
Whoever uses the altar to make a promise is really using the altar and everything on the altar.
Remember this: Somebody may make a promise by the name of the altar. Then he is making a promise by God's name. The altar as well as all the gifts on it are special to God.
So whoever swears by the altar, swears by it and by everything on it.
So whoever swears by the altar swears by it and by everything on it.

“Alas for you, you blind leaders! You say, ‘if anyone swears by the Temple it amounts to nothing, but if he swears by the gold of the Temple he is bound by his oath.’ You blind fools, which is the more important, the gold or the Temple which sanctifies the gold? And you say, ‘If anyone swears by the altar it doesn’t matter, but if he swears by the gift placed on the altar he is bound by his oath.’ Have you no eyes—which is more important, the gift, or the altar which sanctifies the gift? Any man who swears by the altar is swearing by the altar and whatever is offered upon it; and anyone who swears by the Temple is swearing by the Temple and by him who dwells in it; and anyone who swears by Heaven is swearing by the throne of God and by the one who sits upon that throne.

When you swear ‘By the altar,’ you are swearing by it and everything on it,
“You’re hopeless! What arrogant stupidity! You say, ‘If someone makes a promise with his fingers crossed, that’s nothing; but if he swears with his hand on the Bible, that’s serious.’ What ignorance! Does the leather on the Bible carry more weight than the skin on your hands? And what about this piece of trivia: ‘If you shake hands on a promise, that’s nothing; but if you raise your hand that God is your witness, that’s serious’? What ridiculous hairsplitting! What difference does it make whether you shake hands or raise hands? A promise is a promise. What difference does it make if you make your promise inside or outside a house of worship? A promise is a promise. God is present, watching and holding you to account regardless.
Therefore he who swears by the altar, swears by it and by all things on it.
So the one who swears by the altar, swears not only by it but by everything · on it.
To swear an oath by the altar is to swear by it and by everything on it.

He therefore who swears by the altar, swears by it and by everything on it.
So if anyone makes a promise by God's altar, he makes his promise by it and by all that is on it.
Therefore he that sweareth in the altar, sweareth in it, and in all things that be thereon.
