Suppose you go away and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy and not sacrifice’. In any case I did not come to invite the ‘righteous’ but the ‘sinners’.”

When the Pharisees saw him keeping this kind of company, they had a fit, and lit into Jesus’ followers. “What kind of example is this from your Teacher, acting cozy with crooks and misfits?”
While Jesus sat at supper in the house, many tax collectors and sinners came and sat down with Him and His disciples.
And as Jesus sat at table in the house, · many tax collectors and sinners came and were eating with Jesus and · his disciples.
Later Yeshua was having dinner at Matthew’s house. Many tax collectors and sinners came to eat with Yeshua and his disciples.
