Obadiah 14

Neither shouldest thou have stood in the crossway to cut off those of his that did escape; neither shouldest thou have delivered up those of his that remained in the day of distress.
And stand thou not in the crossway, to cut off those of his that escape; and deliver not up those of his that remain in the day of distress.
“Do not stand at the crossroad To cut down those [of Judah] who escaped; And do not hand over [to the enemy] those [of Judah] who survive In the day of their distress.
And you should not have stood at the crossway to cut off those of Judah who escaped, neither should you have delivered up those [of Judah] who remained in the day of distress.
Neither shouldest thou have stood in the crossway, to cut off those of his that did escape; neither shouldest thou have delivered up those of his that did remain in the day of distress.
Do not stand at the crossroads to cut off their fugitives, and do not hand over their survivors in the day of distress.
You shouldn’t have waited on the roads to destroy his escapees; you shouldn’t have handed over his survivors on the day of defeat.
You shouldn’t have stood at the crossroads to cut down their fugitives or handed over their survivors on a day of trouble.”
In their time of torment, you ambushed refugees and handed them over to their attackers.
and thou shouldest not have stood on the crossway, to cut off those of his that did escape, nor have delivered up those remaining of him in the day of distress.
Neither shalt thou stand in the crossways to kill them that flee: and thou shalt not shut up them that remain of him in the day of tribulation.
You should not have stood where the roads cross and destroyed those who were trying to escape. You should not have captured those who escaped alive.
You waited at the place where the roads joined each other. You wanted to kill those that ran away from the enemy. That is why you waited there. You should not have done that. Some Israelites were still alive, but they were in trouble. You should not have taken them to the enemy.
Do not stand in the crossroads to cut off those who have escaped. Do not imprison his survivors on the day of distress.
Do not stand at the crossroads to cut off his fugitives; do not hand over his survivors in the day of distress.
Do not stand at the crossroads to cut off his fugitives; do not hand over his survivors in the day of distress.
Do not stand at the crossroads to ·destroy [L cut off] ·those who are trying to escape [their fugitives]. Do not capture ·those who escape alive [their survivors] and turn them over to their enemy in their ·time [L day] of ·trouble [adversity].
Neither shouldest thou have stood in the crossways to cut off them, that should escape, neither shouldest thou have shut up the remnant thereof in the day of affliction.
Don’t stand at the crossroads to kill their refugees. Don’t hand over their survivors when they’re in distress.
You should not have stood at the crossroads to catch those trying to escape. You should not have handed them over to the enemy on the day of their distress.
Do not stand at the crossroads to cut off their fugitives, and do not hand over their survivors in the day of distress.
Do not stand at the crossroads to destroy those who are trying to escape. Do not capture those who escape alive in a time of trouble.
And you should not have taken your stand at the crossroads to cut down his fleeing refugees, nor should you have handed over his survivors on the day of his distress.”
neither should thou have stood in the crossway, to kill those of his that did escape; neither should thou have delivered up those of his that remained in the day of distress.
Neither shouldest thou have stood in the crossway, to cut off those of his that did escape; neither shouldest thou have delivered up those of his that did remain in the day of distress.
neither shouldest thou have stood in the crossway, to cut off those of his that did escape; neither shouldest thou have delivered up those of his that did remain in the day of distress.
Do not stand at the fork of the road To cut down those among them who escape; And do not deliver over their survivors In the day of their distress.
And you should not have stood at the crossroads to cut off his fugitives and you should not have handed over his survivors on the day of distress.
You stood at the crossroads and killed those trying to escape; you captured the survivors and returned them to their enemies in that terrible time of his distress.
“If thieves crept up on you, they’d rob you blind—isn’t that so? If they mugged you on the streets at night, they’d pick you clean—isn’t that so? Oh, they’ll take Esau apart, piece by piece, empty his purse and pockets. All your old partners will drive you to the edge. Your old friends will lie to your face. Your old drinking buddies will stab you in the back. Your world will collapse. You won’t know what hit you. So don’t be surprised”—it’s God’s sure Word!— “when I wipe out all sages from Edom and rid the Esau mountains of its famous wise men. Your great heroes will desert you, Teman. There’ll be nobody left in Esau’s mountains. Because of the murderous history compiled against your brother Jacob, You will be looked down on by everyone. You’ll lose your place in history. On that day you stood there and didn’t do anything. Strangers took your brother’s army into exile. Godless foreigners invaded and pillaged Jerusalem. You stood there and watched. You were as bad as they were. You shouldn’t have gloated over your brother when he was down-and-out. You shouldn’t have laughed and joked at Judah’s sons when they were facedown in the mud. You shouldn’t have talked so big when everything was so bad. You shouldn’t have taken advantage of my people when their lives had fallen apart. You of all people should not have been amused by their troubles, their wrecked nation. You shouldn’t have taken the shirt off their back when they were knocked flat, defenseless. And you shouldn’t have stood waiting at the outskirts and cut off refugees, And traitorously turned in helpless survivors who had lost everything. * * *
You should not have stood at the crossroads to cut off his fugitives; you should not have handed over his survivors, on the day of distress.
Don’t stand at the crossroads to kill their refugees. Don’t hand over their survivors when they’re in distress.
Do not stand at the crossroads to cut down his survivors; Do not hand over his fugitives on the day of distress!
Do not stand at the crossroads To eliminate their survivors; And do not hand over their refugees On the day of their distress.
“Do not stand at the fork of the road To cut down their fugitives; And do not imprison their survivors In the day of their distress.
Do not wait at the crossroads to slaughter their fugitives. Do not hand over the survivors on the day of their distress.
Do not stand at the crossroads to destroy those who are trying to escape. Do not capture those who escape alive and turn them over to their enemy in their time of trouble.
You should not have stood at the fork in the road to slaughter those trying to escape. You should not have captured their refugees when they suffered adversity.
You waited where the roads cross. You wanted to cut down those who were running away. You should not have done that. You handed over to their enemies those who were still left alive. You should not have done that. They were in trouble.
You should not wait at the crossroads to cut down their fugitives, nor hand over their survivors in the day of their trouble.
You should not wait at the crossroads to cut down their fugitives, nor hand over their survivors in the day of their trouble.
You should not have stood at the crossroads To cut off those among them who escaped; Nor should you have delivered up those among them who remained In the day of distress.
Do not stand at the cross-roads to kill their people who get away. And do not put into prison those who are left alive in the day of their trouble.
You should not have stood at the crossroads, killing those who tried to escape. You should not have captured the survivors and handed them over in their terrible time of trouble.
You should not have stood at the crossings to cut off his fugitives; you should not have handed over his survivors on the day of distress.
You should not have stood at the crossings to cut off his fugitives; you should not have handed over his survivors on the day of distress.
You should not have stood at the crossings to cut off his fugitives; you should not have handed over his survivors on the day of distress.
You should not have stood at the crossings to cut off his fugitives; you should not have handed over his survivors on the day of distress.
Neither shouldest thou have stood in the crossroads, to cut off those of his that did escape; neither shouldest thou have delivered up those of his that did survive in the Yom Tzarah.
You should not have stood at the parting of the ways to cut off his fugitives; you should not have delivered up his survivors in the day of distress.
You should not have stood at the parting of the ways to cut off his fugitives; you should not have delivered up his survivors in the day of distress.
Do not stand at the crossroad to cut down his fugitives, and do not imprison his survivors in the day of distress.
You should never have lain in wait along the crossroads to cut off those trying to escape; You should never have handed over the handful of survivors to Babylonian captivity on the day of their great distress.
Don’t stand in the crossroads to cut off those of his who escape. Don’t deliver up those of his who remain in the day of distress.
neither thou shalt stand in the going out [of the ways], that thou slay them that fled; and thou shalt not close together the residues, either left men, of him, in the day of tribulation, (nor should thou have stood in the going out of the ways, so that thou could kill those who fled; and thou should not have enclosed their remnants, or those who were left, on the day of their tribulation,)
Nor stand by the breach to cut off its escaped, Nor deliver up its remnant in a day of distress.
