Proverbs 23:35

“They have struck me,” shalt thou say, “and I was not sick! They have beaten me, and I felt it not! When shall I awake? I will seek it yet again!”
They have stricken me, shalt thou say, and I was not hurt; They have beaten me, and I felt it not: When shall I awake? I will seek it yet again.
“They struck me, but I was not hurt! They beat me, but I did not feel it! When will I wake up? I will seek more wine.”
You will say, They struck me, but I was not hurt! They beat me [as with a hammer], but I did not feel it! When shall I awake? I will crave and seek more wine again [and escape reality].
They have stricken me, shalt thou say, and I was not sick; they have beaten me, and I felt it not: when shall I awake? I will seek it yet again.
“They struck me, but I feel no pain! They beat me, but I didn’t know it! When will I wake up? I’ll look for another drink.”
“Though hit, I feel no pain; though beaten up, I don’t know anything about it. When I wake up, I’ll look for wine again!”
“They hit me, but I didn’t feel it! They beat me up, and I didn’t even know it! When will I wake up? . . . I’ll go get another drink.”
You will be bruised all over, without even remembering how it all happened. And you will lie awake asking, “When will morning come, so I can drink some more?”
—''They have smitten me, [and] I am not sore; they have beaten me, [and] I knew it not. When shall I awake? I will seek it yet again.''
And thou shalt say: They have beaten me, but I was not sensible of pain: they drew me, and I felt not: when shall I awake, and find wine again?
You will say, “They hit me, but I never felt it. They beat me, but I don’t remember it. Now I can’t wake up. I need another drink.”
You will say, ‘Somebody must have hit me, but I do not remember what happened. I need to wake up soon and have another drink.’
“They struck me, but I felt no pain. They beat me, but I was not aware of it. When will I wake up, so that I can try it again?”
“They struck me,” you will say, “but I was not hurt; they beat me, but I did not feel it. When shall I awake? I must have another drink.”
“They struck me,” you will say, “but I was not hurt; they beat me, but I did not feel it. When shall I awake? I must have another drink.”
You will think, “They hit me, but ·I’m not hurt [L I feel no pain]. They beat me up, but I don’t ·remember [know] it. I wish I could wake up. Then I would ·get another drink [L look for it].”
They have stricken me, shalt thou say, but I was not sick: they have beaten me, but I knew not, when I awoke: therefore will I seek it yet still.
“They strike me, but I feel no pain. They beat me, but I’m not aware of it. Whenever I wake up, I’m going to look for another drink.”
“I must have been hit,” you will say; “I must have been beaten up, but I don't remember it. Why can't I wake up? I need another drink.”
“They struck me, but I feel no pain! They beat me, but I didn’t know it! When will I wake up? I’ll look for another drink.”
You will think, “They hit me, but I’m not hurt! They have beaten me up, but I don’t remember it. I wish I could wake up. Then I would get another drink.”
“They struck me,” you will say, “but I never felt it. They beat me, but I never knew it. When will I wake up? I want another drink.”
They have stricken me, thou shalt say, and I was not sick; they have beaten me, and I felt it not; when I shall awake, I will seek it yet again.
They have stricken me, shalt thou say, and I was not sick; they have beaten me, and I felt it not: when shall I awake? I will seek it yet again.
They have stricken me, shalt thou say, and I was not sick; they have beaten me, and I felt it not: when shall I awake? I will seek it yet again.
“They struck me, but I did not become ill; They beat me, but I did not know it. When shall I awake? I will seek yet another.”
“They struck me; I was not hurt. They beat me; I did not know it. When I will awake, I will continue; I will seek it again.”
And afterwards you will say, “I didn’t even know it when they beat me up. . . . Let’s go and have another drink!”
Who are the people who are always crying the blues? Who do you know who reeks of self-pity? Who keeps getting beaten up for no reason at all? Whose eyes are bleary and bloodshot? It’s those who spend the night with a bottle, for whom drinking is serious business. Don’t judge wine by its label, or its bouquet, or its full-bodied flavor. Judge it rather by the hangover it leaves you with— the splitting headache, the queasy stomach. Do you really prefer seeing double, with your speech all slurred, Reeling and seasick, drunk as a sailor? “They hit me,” you’ll say, “but it didn’t hurt; they beat on me, but I didn’t feel a thing. When I’m sober enough to manage it, bring me another drink!”
“They have stricken me,” you will say, “and I was not sick; they have beaten me, and I did not feel it. When will I awake? I will seek it yet again.”
“They strike me, but I feel no pain. They beat me, but I’m not aware of it. Whenever I wake up, I’m going to look for another drink.”
“They struck me, but it did not pain me; they beat me, but I did not feel it. When can I get up, when can I go out and get more?”
“They struck me, but I did not become ill; They beat me, but I did not know it. When will I awake? I will seek another drink.”
“They struck me, but I did not become ill; They beat me, but I did not know it. When shall I awake? I will seek another drink.”
You will say, “They struck me, but I was not hurt. They beat me, but I did not feel it. When will I awaken, so that I can seek another drink?”
You will think, “They hit me, but I’m not hurt. They beat me up, but I don’t remember it. I wish I could wake up. Then I would get another drink.”
You will say, “They have struck me, but I am not harmed! They beat me, but I did not know it! When will I awake? I will look for another drink.”
“They hit me,” you will say. “But I’m not hurt! They beat me. But I don’t feel it! When will I wake up so I can find another drink?”
“They hit me,” you will say, “but I’m not hurt! They beat me, but I don’t feel it! When will I wake up so I can find another drink?”
‘They hit me,’ you will say, ‘but I’m not hurt! They beat me, but I don’t feel it! When will I wake up so I can find another drink?’
“They have struck me, but I was not hurt; They have beaten me, but I did not feel it. When shall I awake, that I may seek another drink?
“They hit me, but I was not hurt. They beat me, but I did not know it. When will I wake up? I will look for another drink.”
And you will say, “They hit me, but I didn’t feel it. I didn’t even know it when they beat me up. When will I wake up so I can look for another drink?”
‘They struck me’, you will say, ‘but I was not hurt; they beat me, but I did not feel it. When shall I awake? I will seek another drink.’
‘They struck me’, you will say, ‘but I was not hurt; they beat me, but I did not feel it. When shall I awake? I will seek another drink.’
“They struck me,” you will say, “but I was not hurt; they beat me, but I did not feel it. When shall I awake? I will seek another drink.”
“They struck me,” you will say, “but I was not hurt; they beat me, but I did not feel it. When shall I awake? I will seek another drink.”
They have stricken me, shalt thou say, and I was not hurt; they have beaten me, and I felt it not. Mosai (when) shall I awake? I will seek yet another drink.
“They struck me,” you will say, “but I was not hurt; they beat me, but I did not feel it. When shall I awake? I will seek another drink.”
“They struck me,” you will say, “but I was not hurt; they beat me, but I did not feel it. When shall I awake? I will seek another drink.”
“They hit me! But I was not hurt. They beat me up! But I did not feel it. When will I wake up? I will look for another drink.”
You will say, “They slapped me, but it didn’t hurt. They beat me, and I didn’t feel a thing! Whenever I wake up from this stupor, I’ll have another drink!”
“They hit me, and I was not hurt! They beat me, and I don’t feel it! When will I wake up? I can do it again. I can find another.”
And thou shalt say, They beat me, but I had not sorrow; they drew me, and I feeled not; when shall I wake out, and I shall find wines again? (when shall I wake up, and I can drink more wine again?)
`They smote me, I have not been sick, They beat me, I have not known. When I awake -- I seek it yet again!'
