so shall thy poverty come as a marauder, and thy want as an armed man.
So shall thy poverty come as a robber, And thy want as an armed man.
So your poverty will come like an approaching prowler who walks [slowly, but surely] And your need [will come] like an armed man [making you helpless].
So will your poverty come like a robber or one who travels [with slowly but surely approaching steps] and your want like an armed man [making you helpless].
So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man.
and your poverty will come like a robber, your need, like a bandit.
and poverty will come on you like a prowler, destitution like a warrior.
and poverty comes marching in on you, scarcity hits you like an invading soldier.
Suddenly, everything is gone, as though it had been taken by an armed robber.
So shall thy poverty come as a roving plunderer, and thy penury as an armed man.
And want shall come upon thee, as a traveller, and poverty as a man armed. But if thou be diligent, thy harvest shall come as a fountain, and want shall flee far from thee.
But then you sleep and sleep and become poorer and poorer. Soon you will have nothing. It will be as if a thief came and stole everything you owned.
But while you sleep you will suddenly become poor. You will have nothing, as if someone has robbed you.
and poverty will come on you like a prowler, and scarcity will come on you like a warrior.
and poverty will come upon you like a robber, and want like an armed man.
and poverty will come upon you like a robber, and want like an armed man.
So ·you will be as poor as if you had been robbed [L poverty will come on you like a robber]; ·you will have as little as if you had been held up [L deprivation like a shielded warrior].
Therefore thy poverty cometh as one that traveleth by the way, and thy necessity like an armed man.

But while he sleeps, poverty will attack him like an armed robber.

You lazy fool, look at an ant. Watch it closely; let it teach you a thing or two. Nobody has to tell it what to do. All summer it stores up food; at harvest it stockpiles provisions. So how long are you going to laze around doing nothing? How long before you get out of bed? A nap here, a nap there, a day off here, a day off there, sit back, take it easy—do you know what comes next? Just this: You can look forward to a dirt-poor life, poverty your permanent houseguest!
so will your poverty come upon you like a stalker, and your need as an armed man.

then poverty will pounce on you like a bandit; scarcity will attack you like an armed robber.
