When the Lord returned the captives to Zion, we were like them that dream.
A Song of Ascents. When Jehovah brought back those that returned to Zion, We were like unto them that dream.
A Song of Ascents. When the Lord brought back the captives to Zion (Jerusalem), We were like those who dream [it seemed so unreal].
When the Lord brought back the captives [who returned] to Zion, we were like those who dream [it seemed so unreal].
A Song of degrees. When the Lord turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream.
A song of ascents. When the Lord restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like those who dream.
When the Lord changed Zion’s circumstances for the better, it was like we had been dreaming.
A song of ascents: When Adonai restored Tziyon’s fortunes, we thought we were dreaming.
(A song for worship.) It seemed like a dream when the Lord brought us back to the city of Zion.
A Song of degrees. When Jehovah turned the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream.
Unless the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it. Unless the Lord keep the city, he watcheth in vain that keepeth it.
A song for going up to the Temple. It will be like a dream when the Lord comes back with the captives of Zion.
A song to sing as we climb. When the Lord turned us round, so that we enjoyed a good life in Zion again, we thought that we were dreaming!

When the Lord ·brought the prisoners back to [brought back those who returned to; or restored the fortunes of] Jerusalem [L Zion; C probably the return from the exile; 2 Chr. 36:22–23; Ezra 1], it seemed as if we were dreaming [C so surprised and happy that it did not seem real].

It seemed like a dream, too good to be true, when God returned Zion’s exiles. We laughed, we sang, we couldn’t believe our good fortune. We were the talk of the nations— “God was wonderful to them!” God was wonderful to us; we are one happy people.
