Why boastest thou in thine own mischief, O mighty man? The goodness of God endureth continually.
For the Chief Musician. Maschil of David; when Doeg the Edomite came and told Saul, and said unto him, David is come to the house of Ahimelech. Why boastest thou thyself in mischief, O mighty man? The lovingkindness of God endureth continually.
To the Chief Musician. A skillful song, or a didactic or reflective poem. A Psalm of David, when Doeg the Edomite came and told Saul, “David has come to the house of Ahimelech.” Why do you boast of evil, O mighty man? The lovingkindness of God endures all day long.
Why boast you of mischief done against the loving-kindness of God [and the godly], O mighty [sinful] man, day after day?
To the chief Musician, Maschil, A Psalm of David, when Doeg the Edomite came and told Saul, and said unto him, David is come to the house of Ahimelech. Why boastest thou thyself in mischief, O mighty man? the goodness of God endureth continually.
For the choir director. A Maskil of David. When Doeg the Edomite went and reported to Saul, telling him, “David went to Ahimelech’s house.” Why boast about evil, you hero! God’s faithful love is constant.
Hey, powerful person! Why do you brag about evil? God’s faithful love lasts all day long.
For the leader. A maskil of David,
(A special psalm by David for the music leader. He wrote this when Doeg from Edom went to Saul and said, “David has gone to Ahimelech's house.”) You people may be strong and brag about your sins, but God can be trusted day after day.
To the chief Musician: an instruction. Of David; when Doeg the Edomite came and told Saul, and said unto him, David came to the house of Ahimelech. Why boastest thou thyself in evil, thou mighty man? The loving-kindness of God [abideth] continually.
Unto the end, for Maeleth, understandings to David. The fool said in his heart: There is no God.
To the director: A maskil of David written when Doeg the Edomite went to Saul and told him, “David is in Ahimelech’s house.” Great warrior, why are you bragging about the evil you did? You are a disgrace to God.
This is a special song that David wrote for the music leader. It was when Doeg, the man from Edom, went to Saul and told him, ‘David went to the house of Ahimelech, the priest.’ Strong man, why are you so proud about the evil things that you like to do? Remember that God's faithful love keeps me safe.
Why do you boast about evil, you hero? The mercy of God endures all day long.

When Doeg the Edomite came to Saul and ·said [reported] to him, “David ·is in [L has come to/entered] Ahimelech’s house [1 Sam. 21:7; 22:7–23].” Mighty warrior, why do you ·brag [boast] about the evil you do? God’s ·love [loyalty] will continue ·forever [L everyday; all day].
1 David describeth the arrogant tyranny of his adversary Doeg: who by false surmises cause Ahimelech with the rest of the Priests to be slain. 5 David prophesieth his destruction,  6 and encourageth the faithful to put their confidence in God, whose judgments are most sharp against his adversaries. 9 And finally, he rendereth thanks to God for his deliverance.  In this Psalm is timely set forth the kingdom of Antichrist. To him that excelleth. A Psalm of David to give instruction. When Doeg the Edomite came and showed Saul, and said to him, David is come to the house of Ahimelech. Why boastest thou thyself in thy wickedness, O man of power? the loving-kindness of God endureth daily.

Why do you boast, great one, of your evil? God's faithfulness is eternal.

For the director of music. A maskil of David. When Doeg the Edomite came to Saul and said to him, “David is in Ahimelech’s house.” Mighty warrior, why do you brag about the evil you do? God’s love will continue forever.
To the Director: A Davidic instruction about Doeg, the Edomite, when he went to Saul and told him, “David went to the house of Abimelech.” Why do you make evil the foundation of your boasting, mighty one? God’s gracious love never ceases.
To the Overcomer, Maschil, A Psalm of David, when Doeg the Edomite came and told Saul, and said unto him, David is come to the house of Ahimelech. ¶ Why dost thou boast of evil, O strong man? The mercy of God is day by day.

Written by David to protest against his enemy Doeg (1 Samuel 22), who later slaughtered eighty-five priests and their families. You call yourself a hero, do you? You boast about this evil deed of yours against God’s people.
Why do you brag of evil, “Big Man”? God’s mercy carries the day. You scheme catastrophe; your tongue cuts razor-sharp, artisan in lies. You love evil more than good, you call black white. You love malicious gossip, you foul-mouth.
For the Music Director. A Contemplative Maskil. A Psalm of David, when Doeg the Edomite came and told Saul, “David has come to the house of Ahimelek.” Why do you boast in evil, O mighty man? The goodness of God endures continually.

For the music director, a well-written song by David. It was written when Doeg the Edomite went and informed Saul: “David has arrived at the home of Ahimelech.” Why do you boast about your evil plans, O powerful man? God’s loyal love protects me all day long.
For the director of music. A maskil of David when Doeg, who was from Edom, had gone to Saul. Doeg had told Saul, “David has gone to the house of Ahimelek.” You think you are such a big, strong man! Why do you brag about the evil things you’ve done? You are a dishonor to God all the time.
Why do you boast of evil, you mighty hero? Why do you boast all day long, you who are a disgrace in the eyes of God?
For the director of music. A maskil of David. When Doeg the Edomite had gone to Saul and told him: ‘David has gone to the house of Ahimelek.’ Why do you boast of evil, you mighty hero? Why do you boast all day long, you who are a disgrace in the eyes of God?

Why do you take pride in wrong-doing, O powerful man? The loving-kindness of God lasts all day long.

To victory, the psalm of David, when Doeg (the) Idumaean came, and told to Saul, and said to him, David came into the house of Ahimelech. What hast thou glory in malice; which art mighty in wickedness? (To victory, the song of David, when Doeg the Edomite came, and told Saul, and said to him, David went into the house of Ahimelech. Why hast thou glory in evil, or in wickedness, mighty man? but the goodness of God endureth forever.)
