Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me, for my soul trusteth in Thee. Yea, in the shadow of Thy wings will I make my refuge until these calamities pass by.

Be gracious to me, O God, be gracious and merciful to me, For my soul finds shelter and safety in You, And in the shadow of Your wings I will take refuge and be confidently secure Until destruction passes by.
Be merciful and gracious to me, O God, be merciful and gracious to me, for my soul takes refuge and finds shelter and confidence in You; yes, in the shadow of Your wings will I take refuge and be confident until calamities and destructive storms are passed.

To the director: To the tune “Don’t Destroy.” A miktam of David written when he escaped from Saul and went into the cave. God, be merciful to me. Be kind because my soul trusts in you. I have come to you for protection, while the trouble passes.
This is for the music leader, and he should use special music. David wrote this prayer when he ran away from King Saul to hide in a cave. God, please be kind to me and help me! Please help me! I have come to you to keep me safe. Until the danger has gone, keep me near to you, in the way that birds protect their babies under their wings.

Let me ·hide [be protected; L seek refuge] under the shadow of your wings [Ruth 2:12; Matt. 23:37] until the ·trouble [destruction] has passed.

O God, have pity, for I am trusting you! I will hide beneath the shadow of your wings until this storm is past.
Be good to me, God—and now! I’ve run to you for dear life. I’m hiding out under your wings until the hurricane blows over. I call out to High God, the God who holds me together. He sends orders from heaven and saves me, he humiliates those who kick me around. God delivers generous love, he makes good on his word.
