but turned back and dealt unfaithfully like their fathers; they were turned aside like a deceitful bow.
But turned back, and dealt treacherously like their fathers: They were turned aside like a deceitful bow.
They turned back and acted unfaithfully like their fathers; They were twisted like a warped bow [that will not respond to the archer’s aim].
But they turned back and dealt unfaithfully and treacherously like their fathers; they were twisted like a warped and deceitful bow [that will not respond to the archer’s aim].
But turned back, and dealt unfaithfully like their fathers: they were turned aside like a deceitful bow.
They treacherously turned away like their ancestors; they became warped like a faulty bow.
They turned away, became faithless just like their ancestors; they twisted away like a defective bow.
They turned away and were faithless, like their fathers; they were unreliable, like a bow without tension.
They were as unfaithful as their ancestors, and they were as crooked as a twisted arrow.
And they drew back and dealt treacherously like their fathers: they turned like a deceitful bow.
They turned against him and were unfaithful just like their ancestors. They changed directions like a boomerang.
They turned away from him and they deceived him, as their ancestors had done. They were useless, like a bow that would not shoot straight!
Yes, they turned aside and were treacherous like their fathers. They were as undependable as a crooked bow.
but turned away and acted treacherously like their fathers; they twisted like a deceitful bow.

They ·turned away [recoiled] and were disloyal just like their ·ancestors [fathers]. They ·were like [turned into] a ·crooked bow that does not shoot straight [slack bow; C unreliable and ineffective].
But turned back, and dealt falsely like their fathers: they turned like a deceitful bow.
They were disloyal and treacherous like their ancestors. They were like arrows shot from a defective bow.
but were rebellious and disloyal like their ancestors, unreliable as a crooked arrow.
They treacherously turned away like their fathers; they became warped like a faulty bow.
They turned away and sinned just like their ancestors. They were like a crooked bow that does not shoot straight.
They fell away and were as disloyal as their ancestors. They became unreliable, like a defective bow;
But turned back and rebelled like their fathers; they became like a deceitful bow.
But turned back, and dealt unfaithfully like their fathers: they were turned aside like a deceitful bow.

And they turned and were treacherous like their ancestors. They twisted like a crooked bow.
They turned back from entering the Promised Land and disobeyed as their fathers had. Like a crooked arrow, they missed the target of God’s will.
But they kept on giving him a hard time, rebelled against God, the High God, refused to do anything he told them. They were worse, if that’s possible, than their parents: traitors—crooked as a corkscrew. Their pagan orgies provoked God’s anger, their obscene idolatries broke his heart. When God heard their carryings-on, he was furious; he posted a huge No over Israel. He walked off and left Shiloh empty, abandoned the shrine where he had met with Israel. He let his pride and joy go to the dogs, turned his back on the pride of his life. He turned them loose on fields of battle; angry, he let them fend for themselves. Their young men went to war and never came back; their young women waited in vain. Their priests were massacred, and their widows never shed a tear.

They were disloyal and treacherous like their ancestors. They were like arrows shot from a defective bow.
They turned disloyal, faithless like their ancestors; they proved false like a slack bow.
But turned back and acted treacherously like their fathers; They turned aside like a treacherous bow.

They turned away and were disloyal like their ancestors; they were as unreliable as a faulty bow.

They were like their people who lived long ago. They turned away from him and were not faithful. They were like a bow that doesn’t shoot straight. They couldn’t be trusted.
Like their ancestors they were disloyal and faithless, as unreliable as a faulty bow.

But turned back and acted unfaithfully like their fathers; They were turned aside like a deceitful bow.
They turned away and acted without faith like their fathers. They were like a bow that cannot be trusted.
They turned back and were as faithless as their parents. They were as undependable as a crooked bow.

Like their fathers they turned and were treacherous. They turned aside like a faulty bow.
Rather, they regressed to their fathers’ ways and lived faithlessly—disloyal traitors! They were as undependable and untrustworthy as a defective bow,
but turned back, and dealt treacherously like their fathers. They were twisted like a deceitful bow.
And they turned away themselves, and they kept not covenant; as their fathers, (they) were turned into a shrewd bow. (And they turned themselves away/And they rebelled, and they did not obey the covenant; like their forefathers, they were bent like a crooked bow.)
And they turn back, And deal treacherously like their fathers, They have been turned like a deceitful bow,
