Adventure Bible Family Devotions
Brandon and Hailey stood on the boat in the waters near Sarasota, Florida. Fluttering behind them was a colorful parasail.
“Bon voyage,” their mother said as a man let out the rope. Their father added, “Next stop: eight hundred feet over the Gulf of Mexico.” Brandon felt his toes leave the deck. The parasail lifted him and his sister higher and higher. “This is cool!” Hailey said. They cruised along the coast,
enjoying the view.
Suddenly Brandon glanced at Hailey. “The boat’s stopping. We’re going down!” The waves rushed at them. As their feet hit the water, the kids moved their legs as if they were running across the ocean. Then the boat’s engine revved, and they shot up into the air again, laughing.
Peter’s faith in Jesus was going full blast when he stepped out of the boat and walked on the water. But when Peter got scared, his faith slowed down, and he began to sink. Whenever things look bad, keep your faith in Jesus moving full speed ahead. And if you feel afraid and start doubting, call to him the way Peter did. Jesus will pull you up every time!
Bible Verse: Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. – Matthew 14:29-31
Words to Treasure: We live by faith, not by sight. – 2 Corinthians 5:7
