Peace That Surpasses All Understanding
By Vanessa Davis Griggs
God sets his guard over our hearts and minds through Christ Jesus and refuses to allow anything to get to us that will be detrimental to us. And when things are allowed in, the guard is there, assuring us that everything is under control; we’re fully protected…We’ll be all right. During times when our peace is threatened by the trials (big and small) of life, we can rest in the peace of God. God’s peace truly passes all understanding. God’s peace frees us from worry. His peace lifts us above the anxiety of the moment. When God’s peace reigns, people watch us and wonder how we’re able to cope with the chaotic things life throws at us. It’s during these times we smile and say, “It’s the peace of God. I exchanged my peace for God’s peace.” Folks may not understand why we haven’t completely surrendered our minds or totally lost heart; but that’s okay. In fact, that’s what makes it so glorious: the peace of God surpasses all understanding. (3, p.1429)
