^2 (A)He cried against the altar by the word of the Lord, and said, “O altar, altar, thus says the Lord, ‘Behold, a son shall be born to the house of David, ^(B)Josiah by name; and on you he shall sacrifice the priests of the high places who burn incense on you, and human bones shall be burned on you.’”

²⁴ Then ^(A)the people of the land ^[a]killed all those who had conspired against King Amon, and the people of the land made Josiah his son king in his place.

³ Now ^(A)in the eighteenth year of King Josiah, the king sent Shaphan, the son of Azaliah the son of Meshullam the scribe, to the house of the Lord saying,

Josiah Succeeds Amon in Judah

34 ^(A)Josiah was eight years old when he became king, and he reigned thirty-one years in Jerusalem.

Faithless Israel

⁶ Then the Lord said to me in the days of Josiah the king, “Have you seen what faithless Israel did? She ^(A)went up on every high hill and under every green tree, and she was a harlot there.

² “Take a ^[a](A)scroll and write on it all the ^(B)words which I have spoken to you concerning ^(C)Israel and concerning Judah, and concerning all the ^(D)nations, from the ^(E)day I first spoke to you, from the days of Josiah, even to this day.
