¹⁰ Elijah replied to the captain of fifty, “If I am a man of God, ^(A)let fire come down from heaven and consume you and your fifty.” ^(B)Then fire came down from heaven and consumed him and his fifty.

¹¹ So he again sent to him another captain of fifty with his fifty. And he said to him, “O man of God, thus says the king, ‘Come down quickly.’” ¹² Elijah replied to them, “If I am a man of God, let fire come down from heaven and consume you and your fifty.” Then the fire of God came down from heaven and consumed him and his fifty.

Judgment Proclaimed

¹⁷ And ^[a]this is how I saw ^(A)in the vision the horses and those who sat on them: the riders had breastplates the color of fire and of hyacinth and of ^[b](B)brimstone; and the heads of the horses are like the heads of lions; and ^(C)out of their mouths proceed fire and smoke and ^[c](D)brimstone. ¹⁸ A ^(E)third of ^[d]mankind was killed by these three plagues, by the ^(F)fire and the smoke and the ^[e]brimstone which proceeded out of their mouths. ¹⁹ For the power of the horses is in their mouths and in their tails; for their tails are like serpents and have heads, and with them they do harm.

²⁰ The rest of ^[f]mankind, who were not killed by these plagues, ^(G)did not repent of ^(H)the works of their hands, so as not to ^(I)worship demons, and ^(J)the idols of gold and of silver and of brass and of stone and of wood, which can neither see nor hear nor walk; ²¹ and they ^(K)did not repent of their murders nor of their ^(L)sorceries nor of their ^(M)immorality nor of their thefts.
