³ “Therefore the safety of Pharaoh will be ^(A)your shame
And the shelter in the shadow of Egypt, your humiliation.
⁴ “For ^(B)their princes are at Zoan
And their ambassadors arrive at Hanes.
⁵ “Everyone will be ^(C)ashamed because of a people who cannot profit them,
Who are ^(D)not for help or profit, but for shame and also for reproach.”

31 Woe to those who go down to ^(A)Egypt for help
And ^(B)rely on horses,
And trust in chariots because they are many
And in horsemen because they are very strong,
But they do not ^(C)look to the ^(D)Holy One of Israel, nor seek the Lord!

⁶ “Then all the inhabitants of Egypt will know that I am the Lord,
Because they have been only a ^(A)staff made of reed to the house of Israel.
⁷ “When they took hold of you with the hand,
You ^(B)broke and tore all their ^[a]hands;
And when they leaned on you,
You broke and made all their loins ^[b]quake.”
