Then Nathan said to David, “You are the man! Thus says the Lord God of Israel: ‘I (A)anointed you king over Israel, and I delivered you from the hand of Saul. I gave you your master’s house and your master’s wives into your keeping, and gave you the house of Israel and Judah. And if that had been too little, I also would have given you much more! (B)Why have you (C)despised the commandment of the Lord, to do evil in His sight? (D)You have killed Uriah the Hittite with the sword; you have taken his wife to be your wife, and have killed him with the sword of the people of Ammon. 10 Now therefore, (E)the sword shall never depart from your house, because you have despised Me, and have taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your wife.’ 11 Thus says the Lord: ‘Behold, I will raise up adversity against you from your own house; and I will (F)take your wives before your eyes and give them to your neighbor, and he shall lie with your wives in the sight of this sun. 12 For you did it secretly, (G)but I will do this thing before all Israel, before the sun.’ ”

Nathan then said to David, “(A)You yourself are the man! This is what the Lord, the God of Israel says: ‘(B)It is I who anointed you as king over Israel, and it is I who rescued you from the hand of Saul. I also gave you (C)your master’s house and put your master’s wives [a]into your care, and I gave you the house of Israel and Judah; and if that had been too little, I would have added to you [b]many more things like these! Why (D)have you despised the word of the Lord, by doing evil in His sight? (E)You have struck and killed Uriah the Hittite with the sword, you (F)have taken his wife as your wife, and you have slaughtered him with the sword of the sons of Ammon. 10 Now then, (G)the sword shall never leave your house, because you have despised Me and have taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your wife.’ 11 This is what the Lord says: ‘Behold, I am going to raise up evil against you from your own household; (H)I will even take your wives before your eyes and give them to your companion, and he will sleep with your wives in [c]broad daylight. 12 Indeed, (I)you did it secretly, but (J)I will do this thing before all Israel, and [d]in open daylight.’”

And Nathan said to David, Thou art the man. Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, I anointed thee king over Israel, and I delivered thee out of the hand of Saul;

And I gave thee thy master's house, and thy master's wives into thy bosom, and gave thee the house of Israel and of Judah; and if that had been too little, I would moreover have given unto thee such and such things.

Wherefore hast thou despised the commandment of the Lord, to do evil in his sight? thou hast killed Uriah the Hittite with the sword, and hast taken his wife to be thy wife, and hast slain him with the sword of the children of Ammon.

10 Now therefore the sword shall never depart from thine house; because thou hast despised me, and hast taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be thy wife.

11 Thus saith the Lord, Behold, I will raise up evil against thee out of thine own house, and I will take thy wives before thine eyes, and give them unto thy neighbour, and he shall lie with thy wives in the sight of this sun.

12 For thou didst it secretly: but I will do this thing before all Israel, and before the sun.
