3 Therefore the (A)showers have been withheld,
And there has been no spring rain.
Yet you had a (B)prostitute’s [a]forehead;
You refused to be ashamed.
4 Have you not just now called to Me,
‘(C)My Father, You are the (D)friend of my (E)youth?
5 (F)Will He be angry forever,
Or keep His anger to the end?’
Behold, you have spoken
And have done evil things,
And you have [b]had your own way.”
Faithless Israel
6 Then the Lord said to me in the days of King Josiah, “Have you seen what faithless Israel did? She (G)went up on every high hill and under every leafy tree, and she prostituted herself there. 7 Yet (H)I [c]thought, ‘After she has done all these things she will return to Me’; but she did not return, and her (I)treacherous sister Judah saw it. 8 And I saw that for all the [d]adulteries of faithless Israel, I had sent her away and (J)given her a certificate of divorce, yet her (K)treacherous sister Judah did not fear; but she went and prostituted herself also. 9 And because of the thoughtlessness of her prostitution, she (L)defiled the land and committed [e]adultery with (M)stones and trees. 10 Yet in spite of all this her treacherous sister Judah did not return to Me with all her heart, but rather in (N)deception,” declares the Lord.

Yet you have the brazen(C) look of a prostitute;
you refuse to blush with shame.(D)
4 Have you not just called to me:
‘My Father,(E) my friend from my youth,(F)
5 will you always be angry?(G)
Will your wrath continue forever?’
This is how you talk,
but you do all the evil you can.”
Unfaithful Israel
6 During the reign of King Josiah,(H) the Lord said to me, “Have you seen what faithless(I) Israel has done? She has gone up on every high hill and under every spreading tree(J) and has committed adultery(K) there. 7 I thought that after she had done all this she would return to me but she did not, and her unfaithful sister(L) Judah saw it.(M) 8 I gave faithless Israel(N) her certificate of divorce(O) and sent her away because of all her adulteries. Yet I saw that her unfaithful sister Judah had no fear;(P) she also went out and committed adultery. 9 Because Israel’s immorality mattered so little to her, she defiled the land(Q) and committed adultery(R) with stone(S) and wood.(T) 10 In spite of all this, her unfaithful sister Judah did not return(U) to me with all her heart, but only in pretense,(V)” declares the Lord.(W)

They (B)prophesied by Baal and (C)led My people Israel astray.
14 Also among the prophets of Jerusalem I have seen a (D)horrible thing:
The committing of (E)adultery and walking in deceit;
And they strengthen the hands of (F)evildoers,
So that no one has turned back from his wickedness.
All of them have become to Me like (G)Sodom,
And her inhabitants like Gomorrah.

30 “The people of Israel and Judah have done nothing but evil in my sight from their youth;(A) indeed, the people of Israel have done nothing but arouse my anger(B) with what their hands have made,(C) declares the Lord. 31 From the day it was built until now, this city(D) has so aroused my anger and wrath that I must remove(E) it from my sight. 32 The people of Israel and Judah have provoked(F) me by all the evil(G) they have done—they, their kings and officials,(H) their priests and prophets, the people of Judah and those living in Jerusalem.
