^32 (A)And whoever ^[a]speaks a word against the Son of Man, it shall be forgiven him; but whoever ^[b]speaks against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, either in ^(B)this age or in the age to come.

² in which you ^(A)formerly walked according to the ^[a]course of ^(B)this world, according to ^(C)the ruler of the power of the air, the spirit that is now working in ^(D)the sons of disobedience,

^12 [a]instructing us that, denying ungodliness and ^(A)worldly desires, we should ^(B)live sensibly, righteously, and godly ^(C)in the present age,

⁴ You ^(A)adulteresses, do you not know that friendship with ^(B)the world is ^(C)hostility toward God? ^(D)Therefore, whoever wishes to be a friend of the world sets himself as an enemy of God.

^4 [a]For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent ^(A)promises, so that by them you may become ^(B)partakers of the divine nature, having ^(C)escaped the ^(D)corruption that is in ^(E)the world by lust.

²⁰ For if they are overcome, having both ^(A)escaped the defilements of the world by ^(B)the knowledge of the ^(C)Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and having again been ^(D)entangled in them, then ^(E)the last state has become worse for them than the first.

Do Not Love the World

¹⁵ Do not love ^(A)the world nor the things in the world. ^(B)If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. ¹⁶ For all that is in the world, ^(C)the lust of the flesh and ^(D)the lust of the eyes and ^(E)the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world. ^17 (F)And the world is passing away, and also its lusts, but the one who ^(G)does the will of God abides forever.
