² All the sons of Israel ^(A)grumbled against Moses and Aaron; and the whole congregation said to them, “^(B)Would that we had died in the land of Egypt! Or would that we had died in this wilderness!

Moses Pleads for the People

^11 (A)The Lord said to Moses, “How long will this people spurn Me? And how long will ^(B)they not believe in Me, despite all the signs which I have performed in their midst?

³⁰ Surely you shall not come into the land in which I ^[a]swore to settle you, ^(A)except Caleb the son of Jephunneh and Joshua the son of Nun.

³⁵ ‘^(A)Not one of these men, this evil generation, shall see the good land which I swore to give your fathers, ³⁶ except Caleb the son of Jephunneh; he shall see it, and ^(B)to him and to his sons I will give the land on which he has set foot, because he has followed the Lord fully.’

³⁸ Joshua the son of Nun, who stands before you, ^(A)he shall enter there; encourage him, for ^(B)he will cause Israel to inherit it.
