¹⁴ Therefore it is said in the Book of the Wars of the Lord,

³⁶ Your servant has ^[a]killed both the lion and the bear; and this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, since he has taunted the armies of the living God.”

⁴⁷ and that all this assembly may know that ^(A)the Lord does not deliver by sword or by spear; ^(B)for the battle is the Lord’s and He will give you into our hands.”

²⁸ Please forgive ^(A)the transgression of your maidservant; for ^(B)the Lord will certainly make for my lord an enduring house, because my lord is ^(C)fighting the battles of the Lord, and ^(D)evil will not be found in you all your days.
