⁹ So Moses made a serpent of bronze and put it upon a pole, and whenever a serpent bit someone, that person would look at the serpent of bronze and live.^(A)

²⁸ So Jesus said, “When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will realize that I am he^[a] and that I do nothing on my own, but I speak these things as the Father instructed me.^(A)

³⁴ The crowd answered him, “We have heard from the law that the Messiah^[a] remains forever. How can you say that the Son of Man must be lifted up? Who is this Son of Man?”^(A)
