⁴ O ^(H)Lord God of hosts,
^(I)How long will You ^[d]be angry with the prayer of Your people?
⁵ You have fed them with the ^(J)bread of tears,
And You have made them to drink tears in ^[e]large measure.
⁶ You make us ^[f]an object of contention ^(K)to our neighbors,
And our enemies laugh among themselves.
⁷ O God of hosts, restore us
And cause Your face to shine upon us, ^[g]and we will be saved.

⁸ You removed a ^(L)vine from Egypt;
You ^(M)drove out the ^[h]nations and ^(N)planted it.
⁹ You ^(O)cleared the ground before it,
And it ^(P)took deep root and filled the land.
¹⁰ The mountains were covered with its shadow,
And ^[i]the cedars of God with its ^(Q)boughs.
¹¹ It was sending out its branches ^(R)to the sea
And its shoots to the River.
¹² Why have You ^(S)broken down its ^[j]hedges,
So that all who pass that way pick its fruit?
¹³ A boar from the forest ^(T)eats it away
And whatever moves in the field feeds on it.

¹⁴ O God of hosts, ^(U)turn again now, we beseech You;
^(V)Look down from heaven and see, and take care of this vine,
¹⁵ Even the ^[k](W)shoot which Your right hand has planted,
And on the ^[l]son whom You have ^[m]strengthened for Yourself.
¹⁶ It is ^(X)burned with fire, it is cut down;
They perish at the ^(Y)rebuke of Your countenance.
¹⁷ Let ^(Z)Your hand be upon the man of Your right hand,
Upon the son of man whom You ^(AA)made strong for Yourself.
¹⁸ Then we shall not ^(AB)turn back from You;
^(AC)Revive us, and we will call upon Your name.
¹⁹ O Lord God of hosts, ^(AD)restore us;
Cause Your face to shine upon us, ^[n]and we will be saved.

⁶ “I ^[c](L)relieved his shoulder of the burden,
His hands were freed from the ^[d]basket.
⁷ “You ^(M)called in trouble and I rescued you;
I ^(N)answered you in the hiding place of thunder;
I proved you at the ^(O)waters of Meribah. ^[e]Selah.
⁸ “^(P)Hear, O My people, and I will ^[f]admonish you;
O Israel, if you ^(Q)would listen to Me!
⁹ “Let there be no ^(R)strange god among you;
Nor shall you worship any foreign god.
¹⁰ “^(S)I, the Lord, am your God,
Who brought you up from the land of Egypt;
^(T)Open your mouth wide and I will ^(U)fill it.

¹¹ “But My people ^(V)did not listen to My voice,
And Israel did not ^[g]obey Me.
¹² “So I ^(W)gave ^[h]them over to the stubbornness of their heart,
To walk in their own devices.
¹³ “Oh that My people ^(X)would listen to Me,
That Israel would ^(Y)walk in My ways!
¹⁴ “I would quickly ^(Z)subdue their enemies
And ^(AA)turn My hand against their adversaries.
¹⁵ “^(AB)Those who hate the Lord would ^(AC)pretend obedience to Him,
And their time of punishment would be forever.
¹⁶ “^[i]But I would feed you with the ^[j](AD)finest of the wheat,
And with ^(AE)honey from the rock I would satisfy you.”

⁵ They ^(H)do not know nor do they understand;
They ^(I)walk about in darkness;
All the ^(J)foundations of the earth are shaken.
^6 [d]I ^(K)said, “You are gods,
And all of you are ^(L)sons of the Most High.
⁷ “Nevertheless ^(M)you will die like men
And fall like any ^(N)one of the princes.”
^8 (O)Arise, O God, ^(P)judge the earth!
For it is You who ^(Q)possesses all the nations.

⁹ Deal with them ^(V)as with Midian,
As ^(W)with Sisera and Jabin at the torrent of Kishon,
¹⁰ Who were destroyed at En-dor,
Who ^(X)became as dung for the ground.
¹¹ Make their nobles like ^(Y)Oreb and Zeeb
And all their princes like ^(Z)Zebah and Zalmunna,
¹² Who said, “^(AA)Let us possess for ourselves
The ^(AB)pastures of God.”

¹³ O my God, make them like the ^[h](AC)whirling dust,
Like ^(AD)chaff before the wind.
¹⁴ Like ^(AE)fire that burns the forest
And like a flame that ^(AF)sets the mountains on fire,
¹⁵ So pursue them ^(AG)with Your tempest
And terrify them with Your storm.
^16 (AH)Fill their faces with dishonor,
That they may seek Your name, O Lord.
¹⁷ Let them be ^(AI)ashamed and dismayed forever,
And let them be humiliated and perish,
¹⁸ That they may ^(AJ)know that ^(AK)You alone, whose name is the Lord,
Are the ^(AL)Most High over all the earth.

⁵ How blessed is the man whose ^(H)strength is in You,
In ^[c]whose heart are the ^(I)highways to Zion!
⁶ Passing through the valley of ^[d]Baca they make it a ^[e]spring;
The ^(J)early rain also covers it with blessings.
⁷ They ^(K)go from strength to strength,
^[f]Every one of them ^(L)appears before God in Zion.

⁸ O ^(M)Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer;
Give ear, O ^(N)God of Jacob! Selah.
⁹ Behold our ^(O)shield, O God,
And look upon the face of ^(P)Your anointed.
¹⁰ For ^(Q)a day in Your courts is better than a thousand outside.
I would rather stand at the threshold of the house of my God
Than dwell in the tents of wickedness.
¹¹ For the Lord God is ^(R)a sun and ^(S)shield;
The Lord gives grace and ^(T)glory;
^(U)No good thing does He withhold ^[g]from those who walk ^[h]uprightly.
¹² O Lord of hosts,
How ^(V)blessed is the man who trusts in You!

^4 (G)Restore us, O God of our salvation,
And ^(H)cause Your indignation toward us to cease.
⁵ Will ^(I)You be angry with us forever?
Will You prolong Your anger to ^[c]all generations?
⁶ Will You not Yourself ^[d](J)revive us again,
That Your people may ^(K)rejoice in You?
⁷ Show us Your lovingkindness, O Lord,
And ^(L)grant us Your salvation.

^8 [e]I will hear what God the Lord will say;
For He will ^(M)speak peace to His people, ^[f]to His godly ones;
But let them not ^(N)turn back to ^[g]folly.
⁹ Surely ^(O)His salvation is near to those who ^[h]fear Him,
That ^(P)glory may dwell in our land.
^10 (Q)Lovingkindness and ^[i]truth have met together;
^(R)Righteousness and peace have kissed each other.
^11 [j]Truth ^(S)springs from the earth,
And righteousness looks down from heaven.
¹² Indeed, ^(T)the Lord will give what is good,
And our ^(U)land will yield its produce.
^13 (V)Righteousness will go before Him
And will make His footsteps into a way.
