  15. So the people took their dough before the yeast was added, and carried it on their shoulders in kneading troughs wrapped in clothing.
  16. Then Moses told Aaron, “Say to the entire Israelite community, ‘Come before the Lord, for he has heard your grumbling.’”
  17. However, some of them paid no attention to Moses; they kept part of it until morning, but it was full of maggots and began to smell. So Moses was angry with them.
  18. So Moses said to Aaron, “Take a jar and put an omer of manna in it. Then place it before the Lord to be kept for the generations to come.”
  19. I will stand there before you by the rock at Horeb. Strike the rock, and water will come out of it for the people to drink.” So Moses did this in the sight of the elders of Israel.
  20. Listen now to me and I will give you some advice, and may God be with you. You must be the people’s representative before God and bring their disputes to him.
  21. So Moses went back and summoned the elders of the people and set before them all the words the Lord had commanded him to speak.
  22. “You shall have no other gods before me.
  23. “These are the laws you are to set before them:
  24. then his master must take him before the judges. He shall take him to the door or the doorpost and pierce his ear with an awl. Then he will be his servant for life.
  25. But if the thief is not found, the owner of the house must appear before the judges, and they must determine whether the owner of the house has laid hands on the other person’s property.
