  9. When the servants of David came to Abigail at Carmel, they said to her, “David has sent us to you to take you to him as his wife.”
  10. David sent out spies and learned that Saul had come.
  11. When David came to Ziklag, he sent part of the spoil to his friends, the elders of Judah, saying, “Here is a present for you from the spoil of the enemies of the Lord.”
  12. So they cut off his head and stripped off his armour and sent messengers throughout the land of the Philistines, to carry the good news to the house of their idols and to the people.
