Psalm 113

Who Is like the Lord Our God?

113 (A)Praise the Lord!
(B)Praise, O (C)servants of the Lord,
praise the name of the Lord!

(D)Blessed be the name of the Lord
from this time forth and forevermore!
(E)From the rising of the sun to its setting,
(F)the name of the Lord is (G)to be praised!

The Lord is (H)high above all nations,
and his (I)glory above the heavens!
(J)Who is like the Lord our God,
    who is seated on high,
who (K)looks far down
on the heavens and the earth?
He (L)raises the poor from the dust
and lifts the needy from the ash heap,
to make them (M)sit with princes,
with the princes of his people.
He (N)gives the barren woman a home,
making her the joyous mother of children.
(O)Praise the Lord!

Psalm 122

Let Us Go to the House of the Lord

A Song of (A)Ascents. Of David.

122 I was glad when they said to me,
(B)“Let us go to the house of the Lord!”
Our feet have been standing
    within your gates, O Jerusalem!

Jerusalem—(C)built as a city
    that is (D)bound firmly together,
to which the tribes (E)go up,
    the tribes of the Lord,
as was (F)decreed for[a] Israel,
to give thanks to the name of the Lord.
There (G)thrones for judgment were set,
the thrones of the house of David.

(H)Pray for the peace of Jerusalem!
“May they be secure who love you!
Peace be within your (I)walls
    and security within your (J)towers!”
For my brothers and companions' sake
I will say, (K)“Peace be within you!”
For the sake of the house of the Lord our God,
    I will (L)seek your good.

1 Samuel 1:20-28

20 And in due time Hannah conceived and bore a son, and she called his name Samuel, for she said, “I have asked for him from the Lord.”[a]

Samuel Given to the Lord

21 The man Elkanah and all his house (A)went up to offer to the Lord the yearly sacrifice and to pay his vow. 22 But Hannah did not go up, for she said to her husband, “As soon as the child is weaned, I will bring him, so that he may appear in the presence of the Lord (B)and dwell there forever.” 23 (C)Elkanah her husband said to her, “Do what seems best to you; wait until you have weaned him; (D)only, may the Lord establish his word.” So the woman remained and nursed her son until she weaned him. 24 And when she had weaned him, (E)she took him up with her, along with a three-year-old bull,[b] an ephah[c] of flour, and a skin of wine, and she brought him to (F)the house of the Lord at Shiloh. And the child was young. 25 Then they slaughtered the bull, and they brought the child to Eli. 26 And she said, “Oh, my lord! (G)As you live, my lord, I am the woman who was standing here in your presence, praying to the Lord. 27 For this child I prayed, (H)and the Lord has granted me my petition that I made to him. 28 Therefore I have lent him to the Lord. As long as he lives, he is lent to the Lord.”

(I)And he worshiped the Lord there.

Romans 8:14-21

14 For all who are (A)led by the Spirit of God are (B)sons[a] of God. 15 For (C)you did not receive (D)the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of (E)adoption as sons, by whom we cry, (F)“Abba! Father!” 16 (G)The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, then (H)heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, (I)provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him.

Future Glory

18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time (J)are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. 19 For the creation waits with eager longing for (K)the revealing of the sons of God. 20 For the creation (L)was subjected to futility, not willingly, but (M)because of him who subjected it, in hope 21 that (N)the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God.
