Psalm 29

The Voice of the Lord in the Storm.

A Psalm of David.

29 (A)Ascribe to the Lord, [a]sons of the mighty,
Ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.
Ascribe to the Lord the glory [b]due His name;
Worship the Lord (B)in holy attire.

The (C)voice of the Lord is on the waters;
The God of glory (D)thunders,
The Lord is over [c](E)many waters.
The voice of the Lord is (F)powerful,
The voice of the Lord is majestic.
The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars;
Yes, the Lord breaks (G)the cedars of Lebanon in pieces.
He makes Lebanon (H)skip like a calf,
And (I)Sirion like a young wild ox.
The voice of the Lord divides [d]flames of fire.
The voice of the Lord [e]shakes the wilderness;
The Lord shakes the wilderness of (J)Kadesh.
The voice of the Lord makes (K)the deer give birth
And strips the forests bare;
And (L)in His temple everything says, “Glory!”

10 The Lord sat as King at the (M)flood;
Yes, the Lord sits as (N)King forever.
11 [f]The Lord will give (O)strength to His people;
[g]The Lord will bless His people with (P)peace.

1 Samuel 3:10-4:1

10 Then the Lord came and stood, and called as at the other times: “Samuel! Samuel!” And Samuel said, “Speak, for Your servant is listening.” 11 Then the Lord said to Samuel, “Behold, (A)I am going to do a thing in Israel, and both ears of everyone who hears about it will ring. 12 On that day (B)I will carry out against Eli everything that I have spoken in regard to his house, from beginning to end. 13 For (C)I have told him that I am going to judge his house forever for (D)the wrongdoing that he knew, because (E)his sons were bringing a curse on themselves and (F)he did not rebuke them. 14 Therefore I have sworn to the house of Eli that (G)the wrongdoing of Eli’s house shall never be atoned for by sacrifice or offering.”

15 So Samuel lay down until morning. Then he (H)opened the doors of the house of the Lord. But Samuel was afraid to tell (I)the vision to Eli. 16 Then Eli called Samuel and said, “Samuel, my son.” And he said, “Here I am.” 17 He said, “What is the word that He spoke to you? Please do not hide it from me. (J)May God do the same to you, and more so, if you hide a single word from me of all the words that He spoke to you!” 18 So Samuel told him [a]everything and hid nothing from him. And he said, “(K)He is the Lord; let Him do [b]what seems good to Him.”

19 Now (L)Samuel grew, and (M)the Lord was with him, and He (N)let none of his words [c]fail. 20 And all Israel (O)from Dan even to Beersheba knew that Samuel was confirmed as a prophet of the Lord. 21 And (P)the Lord appeared again at Shiloh, (Q)because the Lord revealed Himself to Samuel at Shiloh by the word of the Lord.

Philistines Take the Ark in Victory

So the word of Samuel came to all Israel. Now Israel went out to meet the Philistines in battle, and they camped beside (R)Ebenezer, while the Philistines camped in (S)Aphek.

Acts 9:10-19

10 Now there was a disciple in (A)Damascus named (B)Ananias; and the Lord said to him in (C)a vision, “Ananias.” And he said, “Here I am, Lord.” 11 And the Lord said to him, “Get up and go to the street called Straight, and inquire at the house of Judas for a man from (D)Tarsus named Saul, for he is praying, 12 and he has seen [a]in a vision a man named Ananias come in and (E)lay his hands on him, so that he might regain his sight.” 13 But Ananias answered, “Lord, I have heard from many people about this man, (F)how much harm he did to (G)Your [b]saints in Jerusalem; 14 and here he (H)has authority from the chief priests to [c]arrest all who (I)call on Your name.” 15 But the Lord said to him, “Go, for (J)he is a chosen [d]instrument of Mine, to bear My name before (K)the Gentiles and (L)kings and the sons of Israel; 16 for (M)I will show him how much he must suffer in behalf of My name.” 17 So Ananias departed and entered the house, and after (N)laying his hands on him said, “(O)Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road by which you were coming, has sent me so that you may regain your sight and be (P)filled with the Holy Spirit.” 18 And immediately something like fish scales fell from his eyes, and he regained his sight, and he got up and was baptized; 19 and he took food and was strengthened.
