12 Now the Lord said to Moses, “Come up to Me on the mountain and [a]stay there, and (A)I will give you the stone tablets [b]with the Law and the [c]commandments which I have written for their instruction.” 13 So Moses got up [d]along with (B)Joshua his [e]servant, and Moses went up to (C)the mountain of God. 14 But to the elders he said, “(D)Wait here for us until we return to you. And behold, (E)Aaron and Hur are with you; whoever [f]has a legal matter, have him approach them.” 15 Then Moses went up to the mountain, and (F)the cloud covered the mountain. 16 (G)The glory of the Lord [g]settled on Mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it for six days; and on the seventh day He (H)called to Moses from the midst of the cloud. 17 (I)And to the eyes of the sons of Israel, the appearance of the glory of the Lord was like a (J)consuming fire on the mountain top. 18 Then Moses entered the midst of the cloud [h]as he went up to the mountain; and Moses was on the mountain for (K)forty days and forty nights.
The Reign of the Lord’s Anointed.
2 Why are (A)the [a]nations restless
And the peoples (B)plotting in vain?
2 The (C)kings of the earth take their stand
And the rulers conspire together
(D)Against the Lord and against His [b](E)Anointed, saying,
3 “Let’s (F)tear their shackles apart
And throw their ropes away from us!”
4 He who [c]sits in the heavens (G)laughs,
The Lord (H)scoffs at them.
5 Then He will speak to them in His (I)anger
And (J)terrify them in His fury, saying,
6 “But as for Me, I have installed (K)My King
Upon Zion, (L)My holy mountain.”
7 “I will announce the [d]decree of the Lord:
He said to Me, ‘You are (M)My Son,
Today I have fathered You.
8 Ask it of Me, and (N)I will certainly give (O)the [e]nations as Your inheritance,
And the (P)ends of the earth as Your possession.
9 You shall [f](Q)break them with a [g]rod of iron,
You shall (R)shatter them like [h]earthenware.’”
10 Now then, you kings, (S)use insight;
Let yourselves be instructed, you [i]judges of the earth.
11 Serve the Lord with [j](T)reverence
And rejoice with (U)trembling.
12 [k]Kiss (V)the Son, that He not be angry and you perish on the way,
For (W)His wrath may be kindled quickly.
How blessed are all who (X)take refuge in Him!
Praise to the Lord for His Faithfulness to Israel.
99 (A)The Lord reigns, [a]the peoples tremble!
He (B)sits enthroned above the cherubim, [b]the earth quakes!
2 The Lord [c]is (C)great in Zion,
And He is (D)exalted above all the peoples.
3 May they praise Your (E)great and awesome name;
(F)Holy is [d]He.
4 The [e]strength of the King (G)loves [f]justice;
You have established [g](H)order;
You have (I)executed [h]justice and righteousness in Jacob.
5 [i](J)Exalt the Lord our God
And (K)worship at His footstool;
(L)Holy is He.
6 (M)Moses and Aaron were among His (N)priests,
And (O)Samuel was among those who (P)called on His name;
They (Q)called upon the Lord and He answered them.
7 He (R)spoke to them in the pillar of cloud;
They (S)kept His testimonies
And the statute that He gave them.
8 Lord our God, You (T)answered them;
You were a (U)forgiving God to them,
And yet an (V)avenger of their evil deeds.
9 Exalt the Lord our God
And worship at His holy hill,
For the Lord our God is holy.
Eyewitnesses
16 For we did not follow cleverly devised (A)tales when we made known to you the (B)power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were (C)eyewitnesses of His majesty. 17 For when He received honor and glory from God the Father, such a (D)[a]declaration as this was made to Him by the (E)Majestic Glory: “This is [b]My beloved Son with whom I am well pleased”— 18 and we ourselves heard this [c]declaration made from heaven when we were with Him on the (F)holy mountain.
19 And so we have (G)the prophetic word made more (H)sure, to which you do well to pay attention as to (I)a lamp shining in a dark place, until the (J)day dawns and the (K)morning star arises (L)in your hearts. 20 But (M)know this first of all, that (N)no prophecy of Scripture [d]becomes a matter of [e]someone’s own interpretation, 21 for (O)no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men (P)moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.
The Transfiguration
17 (A)Six days later, Jesus *took with Him (B)Peter and [a]James, and his brother John, and *led them up on a high mountain by themselves. 2 And He was transfigured before them; and His face shone like the sun, and His garments became as white as light. 3 And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Him. 4 Peter responded and said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good that we are here. If You want, (C)I will make three [b]tabernacles here: one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” 5 While he was still speaking, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and behold, (D)a voice from the cloud said, “(E)This is My beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to Him!” 6 When the disciples heard this, they fell [c]face down to the ground and were terrified. 7 And Jesus came to them and touched them and said, “Get up, and (F)do not be afraid.” 8 And raising their eyes, they saw no one except Jesus Himself alone.
9 (G)When they were coming down from the mountain, Jesus commanded them, saying, “(H)Tell the vision to no one until (I)the Son of Man has (J)risen from the dead.”
