So you too, when you see these things happening, recognize that the kingdom of God is near.

While they were perplexed about this, behold, two men suddenly stood near them in gleaming clothing;

One of them, named Cleopas, answered and said to Him, “Are You possibly the only one living near Jerusalem who does not know about the things that happened here in these days?”

And so they strongly urged Him, saying, “Stay with us, for it is getting toward evening, and the day is now nearly over.” So He went in to stay with them.

First Passover—Cleansing the Temple

The Passover of the Jews was near, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.

Now John also was baptizing in Aenon, near Salim, because there was an abundance of water there; and people were coming and being baptized—

So He *came to a city of Samaria called Sychar, near the parcel of land that Jacob gave to his son Joseph;

Now the Passover, the feast of the Jews, was near.

Then, when they had rowed about twenty-five or thirty stadia, they *saw Jesus walking on the sea and coming near the boat; and they were frightened.

Other small boats came from Tiberias near to the place where they ate the bread after the Lord had given thanks.

Now the feast of the Jews, the Feast of Booths, was near.

Now Bethany was near Jerusalem, about fifteen stadia away;

Therefore Jesus no longer continued to walk publicly among the Jews, but went away from there to the region near the wilderness, into a city called Ephraim; and there He stayed with the disciples.

Now the Passover of the Jews was near, and many went up to Jerusalem from the country prior to the Passover, in order to purify themselves.

But when He said this, one of the officers, who was standing nearby, struck Jesus, saying, “Is that the way You answer the high priest?”

Therefore many of the Jews read this inscription, because the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city; and it was written in Hebrew, Latin, and in Greek.

So when Jesus saw His mother, and the disciple whom He loved standing nearby, He *said to His mother, “Woman, behold, your son!”

Therefore because of the Jewish day of preparation, since the tomb was nearby, they laid Jesus there.

The Upper Room

Then they returned to Jerusalem from the mountain called Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, a Sabbath day’s journey away.

Gamaliel’s Counsel

But when they heard this, they became infuriated and nearly decided to execute them.

Since Lydda was near Joppa, the disciples, having heard that Peter was there, sent two men to him, urging him, “Do not delay in coming to us.”

And behold, an angel of the Lord suddenly stood near Peter, and a light shone in the cell; and he struck Peter’s side and woke him, saying, “Get up quickly.” And his chains fell off his hands.

Paul Turns to the Gentiles

The next Sabbath nearly all the city assembled to hear the word of the Lord.

came to me, and standing nearby he said to me, ‘Brother Saul, receive your sight!’ And at that very moment I looked up at him.

And when the blood of Your witness Stephen was being shed, I also was standing nearby and approving, and watching over the cloaks of those who were killing him.’
