Psalm 66-67

How Awesome Are Your Deeds

To the choirmaster. A Song. A Psalm.

66 (A)Shout for joy to God, all the earth;
    sing the glory of his name;
    (B)give to him glorious praise!
Say to God, (C)“How awesome are your deeds!
    So great is your power that your enemies (D)come cringing to you.
(E)All the earth worships you
    and sings praises to you;
    they sing praises to your name.” Selah

(F)Come and see what God has done:
    (G)he is awesome in his deeds toward the children of man.
He (H)turned the sea into dry land;
    they (I)passed through the river on foot.
There did we rejoice in him,
    who rules by his might forever,
whose (J)eyes keep watch on the nations—
    let not the rebellious exalt themselves. Selah

Bless our God, O peoples;
    let the sound of his praise be heard,
who has kept our soul among the living
    and (K)has not let our feet slip.
10 For you, O God, have (L)tested us;
    you have tried us as silver is tried.
11 You brought us into (M)the net;
    you laid a crushing burden on our backs;
12 you let men (N)ride over our heads;
    we went through fire and through (O)water;
yet you have brought us out to a place of abundance.

13 I will come into your house with burnt offerings;
    I will (P)perform my vows to you,
14 that which my lips uttered
    and my mouth promised (Q)when I was in trouble.
15 I will offer to you burnt offerings of fattened animals,
    with the smoke of the sacrifice of rams;
I will make an offering of bulls and goats. Selah

16 (R)Come and hear, all you who fear God,
    and I will tell what he has done for my soul.
17 I cried to him with my mouth,
    and high praise was on[a] my tongue.[b]
18 If I had (S)cherished iniquity in my heart,
    (T)the Lord would not have listened.
19 But truly (U)God has listened;
    he has attended to the voice of my prayer.

20 Blessed be God,
    because he has not rejected my prayer
    or removed his steadfast love from me!

Make Your Face Shine upon Us

To the choirmaster: with (V)stringed instruments. A Psalm. A Song.

67 May God (W)be gracious to us and bless us
    and make his face to (X)shine upon us, Selah
that (Y)your way may be known on earth,
    your (Z)saving power among all nations.
(AA)Let the peoples praise you, O God;
    let all the peoples praise you!

Let the nations be glad and sing for joy,
    for you (AB)judge the peoples with equity
    and guide the nations upon earth. Selah
(AC)Let the peoples praise you, O God;
    let all the peoples praise you!

The earth has (AD)yielded its increase;
    God, our God, shall bless us.
God shall bless us;
    let (AE)all the ends of the earth fear him!

Ezekiel 3:4-11

And he said to me, (A)“Son of man, go to the house of Israel and speak with my words to them. For you are not sent to a people of foreign speech and a hard language, but to the house of Israel— not to many peoples of foreign speech and a hard language, whose words you cannot understand. (B)Surely, if I sent you to such, they would listen to you. (C)But the house of Israel will not be willing to listen to you, for they are not willing to listen to me: because all the house of Israel (D)have a hard forehead and a stubborn heart. (E)Behold, I have made your face as hard as their faces, and your forehead as hard as their foreheads. Like (F)emery harder than flint have I made your forehead. (G)Fear them not, nor be dismayed at their looks, for they are a rebellious house.” 10 Moreover, he said to me, “Son of man, (H)all my words that I shall speak to you receive (I)in your heart, and hear with your ears. 11 And go to the exiles, (J)to your people, and speak to them and say to them, (K)‘Thus says the Lord God,’ (L)whether they hear or refuse to hear.”

Acts 10:34-44

Gentiles Hear the Good News

34 So Peter opened his mouth and said: “Truly I understand that (A)God (B)shows no partiality, 35 but (C)in every nation anyone who fears him and (D)does what is right is acceptable to him. 36 As for (E)the word that he sent to Israel, (F)preaching good news of (G)peace through Jesus Christ ((H)he is Lord of all), 37 you yourselves know what happened throughout all Judea, (I)beginning (J)from Galilee after the baptism that John proclaimed: 38 how (K)God anointed Jesus of Nazareth (L)with the Holy Spirit and with (M)power. He went about doing good and healing all (N)who were oppressed by the devil, (O)for God was with him. 39 And (P)we are witnesses of all that he did both in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem. (Q)They put him to death by hanging him on a tree, 40 but (R)God raised him on (S)the third day and made him to (T)appear, 41 (U)not to all the people but to us who had been chosen by God as (V)witnesses, who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead. 42 And (W)he commanded us to preach to the people and to testify (X)that he is the one appointed by God to be judge (Y)of the living and the dead. 43 (Z)To him (AA)all the prophets bear witness that (AB)everyone who believes in him receives (AC)forgiveness of sins (AD)through his name.”

The Holy Spirit Falls on the Gentiles

44 While Peter was still saying these things, (AE)the Holy Spirit fell on all who heard the word.

Psalm 118

His Steadfast Love Endures Forever

118 (A)Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
    for his steadfast love endures forever!

(B)Let Israel say,
    “His steadfast love endures forever.”
(C)Let the house of Aaron say,
    “His steadfast love endures forever.”
(D)Let those who fear the Lord say,
    “His steadfast love endures forever.”

(E)Out of my distress I (F)called on the Lord;
    the Lord answered me and set me (G)free.
(H)The Lord is on my side; (I)I will not fear.
    What can man do to me?
(J)The Lord is on my side as my helper;
    I shall (K)look in triumph on those who hate me.

(L)It is better to take refuge in the Lord
    (M)than to trust in man.
It is better to take refuge in the Lord
    (N)than to trust in princes.

10 (O)All nations surrounded me;
    in the name of the Lord I cut them off!
11 They surrounded me, surrounded me on every side;
    in the name of the Lord I cut them off!
12 (P)They surrounded me like bees;
    they went out like (Q)a fire among thorns;
    in the name of the Lord I cut them off!
13 I was (R)pushed hard,[a] so that I was falling,
    but the Lord helped me.

14 The Lord is my strength and my song;
    (S)he has become my salvation.
15 Glad songs of salvation
    are in the tents of the righteous:
(T)“The right hand of the Lord (U)does valiantly,
16     the right hand of the Lord exalts,
    the right hand of the Lord (V)does valiantly!”

17 (W)I shall not die, but I shall live,
    and (X)recount the deeds of the Lord.
18 The Lord has (Y)disciplined me severely,
    but he has not given me over to death.

19 (Z)Open to me the gates of righteousness,
    that I may enter through them
    and give thanks to the Lord.
20 This is the gate of the Lord;
    (AA)the righteous shall enter through it.
21 I thank you that (AB)you have answered me
    (AC)and have become my salvation.
22 (AD)The stone that the builders rejected
    has become the cornerstone.[b]
23 This is the Lord's doing;
    it is marvelous in our eyes.
24 This is the day that the Lord has made;
    let us rejoice and be glad in it.

25 Save us, we pray, O Lord!
    O Lord, we pray, give us success!

26 (AE)Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!
    We (AF)bless you from the house of the Lord.
27 The Lord is God,
    and he has made (AG)his light to shine upon us.
Bind the festal sacrifice with cords,
    up to (AH)the horns of the altar!

28 You are my God, and I will give thanks to you;
    you are my God; I will (AI)extol you.
29 (AJ)Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
    for his steadfast love endures forever!

John 21:15-22

Jesus and Peter

15 When they had (A)finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, (B)“Simon, (C)son of John, (D)do you love me more than these?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.” He said to him, “Feed (E)my lambs.” 16 He said to him a second time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.” He said to him, (F)“Tend (G)my sheep.” 17 He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” Peter was grieved because he said to him (H)the third time, “Do you love me?” and he said to him, “Lord, (I)you know everything; you know that I love you.” Jesus said to him, “Feed (J)my sheep. 18 (K)Truly, truly, I say to you, when you were young, (L)you used to dress yourself and walk wherever you wanted, but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will dress you and carry you where you do not want to go.” 19 (This he said to show (M)by what kind of death he was to glorify God.) And after saying this he said to him, (N)“Follow me.”

Jesus and the Beloved Apostle

20 Peter turned and saw (O)the disciple whom Jesus loved following them, (P)the one who also had leaned back against him during the supper and had said, “Lord, who is it that is going to betray you?” 21 When Peter saw him, he said to Jesus, “Lord, what about this man?” 22 Jesus said to him, “If it is my will that he remain (Q)until (R)I come, what is that to you? (S)You follow me!”
